Interrogator documentation - up to date?

Hey,

i created a interrogator usb via the sync tool, automatic.

However in the documentation Tutorial: APIM Interrogator Utility/Create Interrogator Log it states

You will need to edit the autoinstall.lst file so it looks like the example below:

 [SYNCGen3.0_ALL]
 Item1 = GB5T-14G386-AC_1587495565000.TAR.GZ
 Open1 = SyncMyRide\GB5T-14G386-AC_1587495565000.TAR.GZ
 Options = Delay,Include,Transaction

do i need to edit the autoinstall file yes or no? :slight_smile:
since my tries dont work, the stick is plugged in and the sync says “update installed” etc. but i get no log from the car… i wonder if i have to edit the autoinst file like the doc. states!

From the documentation link that you referenced:

If the above file fails to run because you have an older APIM and/or Sync 3.0, use file GB5T-14G386-AB_134244.tar.gz Interrogator Logger.

If you haven’t, try that as per documented

shoudl have read the last sentence. I just expected the Automode does the brainwork :smiley: ill try

It should, I agree.
Let us know how it went with the other file, ok?

AB is needed for 3.0? if some one can confirm what file is needed for each version i’ll tweak the Syn3 Updater code to handle it properly

will do today.

i edited the file by Options = Delay,Include,Transaction
and i put the “older” interr. logger on the stick.

Options are not that relevant, but make sure the references for the file are changed

I’m sure @F150Chief can answer this one.

EDIT: I knew I read something about this.
Here’s the link

i can confirm the build in sync update tool interrogator version did not work for me.
Ford grand c max, manufactured in year 2018?!, sync 3.0.19205 with nav f9

i put the GB5T-14G386-AB onto the stick and a log was created instantly. Waited for the sync to load and the i plugged in the usb. No restart necessary.

With the v GB5T-14G386-AD it did not work at all. Also: the car also said “system restart” but nothing happend. Glad it didnt crash hehe.

would it help you guys uploading the logfile?

just browsed the log… weird that many things are marked as “not present”.
like Heated Windshield HMI (which i have front and rear).

hope the planned 3.4 sync update tomorrow wont crash my apim :smiley:

Thanks, Added to my ToDo list which was at 20 then down to 4 and now back up to 8 :frowning:

It’s extremely hard to completely kill the APIM unless you are MY2020 and don’t read the warning :slight_smile: almost everything is recoverable

I have never been able to find which version changed to which Interrogator file. For instance, -AC works on 3.2 thru 3.4, and I have seen it work on late versions of 3.0, but not on early versions like Sync 3 2.2 or 2.3. I tried -AD on Sync 3 3.0 and it did not work for me. So basically, this is what I know from testing:

AD does not work on Sync 3.0.
AD works on 3.4 late versions.
AC works on 3.2 thru 3.4.
AB works on 3.0 all versions.

I know this is not absolute, but I don’t have the ability to test further.

Looks like you should be fine. It will take about 60 minutes with maps, so keep the ignition on. Battery charger is a good idea, or just go for an hour long drive.

Are we sure it’s related to software version and not hardware models?

It could very well be pre-18.5 and post-18.5 MY differences. I don’t have the hardware to test.

I only have 2 APIM’s currently and one is faulty so neither do i unfortunately.
