Interrogator model # does not match sticker

2019 Ford Ranger previously updated to 3.4.23188 via official ford site. Now I am looking to update the maps using syn3 updater. I ran the interrogator tool on syn3 and it came back with an APIM model# saying it was MY20+. This didn’t make sense to me as the vehicle is an early 2019 build. I went in and took pictures of the label on the back of what I believe is the APIM and it shows a different model # than the interrogator. Sticker says KB3T-14G370-NCH and build date 01/05/2019. (Can’t see where to upload the pictures.) Why would this model # be different than the sticker and is it really MY20+ if the sticker is 2019 build?

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?

Update Method: Official Ford

MY2020 refers to the underlying hardware on the main board, it doesn’t mean that there was a hard cutoff date that anything dated 1/1/2020 was a MY2020. Production of components for the next model year starts long in advance, so that when production starts of the new model they’re in the pipeline.
For most models the cut over is the start of Q3, it can be earlier or later, my 2018 Fusion was built in Sept/2017.

Hence the need to use the interrogator before looking at doing a reformat, a non-MY2020 in a 2019 car I’d expect to have an internal part number like 4U5T-, the sticker hardly ever matches the hardware identifier. The one I have in my Fusion now has a identifier of 5U5T-14G371-CKF and the label says LS7T-14G370-BCH with an assembly date of 2/19/2019, it was sourced from a 2019 Fusion built 12 days before the factory cut over to the MY2020.

And I’ve also got one that IDs as LU5T-14G371-CKF with a label on it of LL3T-14G370-MCH and a build date of 02/16/2020 that came from an F150 that isn’t MY2020 hardware.

Interesting, I figured that with that early of a build date I would have been in the clear. So that being the case I’ll only be able to update to NA2.20 maps unless I shell out for the official ford release. Slight bummer, but glad I went ahead and ran the interrogator before assuming my 2019 would be safe to skip the MY20 protection.

Can you share a picture of the sticker?

Not the best quality but as good as I could get without taking the entire dash apart.

Well a K series is good but that sticker does not look right. It looks like it has been peeled off and reapplied. I am willing to bet that is not the right sticker.

Sticker looked original to me. I think there are some reflections from my work light that look like ripples in the sticker. I have been the owner since 2000mi. I know that I have never had any work behind the dash aside from me installing an amp with a T-harness.

I’ll take your work for it. Pics definitely will do that.

Or unless you follow the FMods Universal Reformatter path…
That will also get you to current, just have to jailbreak the APIM and follow their instructions.
