Hey guys, I’m trying to prepare my USB device, but I only get a “Sync3 Updater has crashed” message with “Device not ready” below.
This happens when I click the Start button on the main screen of the Updater, after the app formats the USB device.
I tried first with a 4GB device and got the error. I figured it could be too little capacity. Changed it to a 1TB device, but I still get the same error.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?

Ok, just updated my SYNC with the 1TB External HD, all went fine. I was having trouble making the Navigation work, but after a factory reset, it started to work no problem. Android Auto works fine too.
Other than the modernized user interface, what changes does 3.4 bring compared to 2.0? Is there a place where I can see the changelog?
I’ll reiterate that the error the installer was giving me when trying to prepare the external hd is the same as when I tried the usb stick. For this reason I doubt it is hardware related.
IOException “Device is not ready” means that the device Syn3 Updater tried to access “was not ready”, this is likely power management on your USB devices/ports or some software messing with the USB connectivity/storage devices. There is a check i can add to check if device is ready but this will only be valid at the time of the check and therefore doesn’t really resolve the issue.
To answer your question, No, Ford does not provide any changelogs.
