(Apparently submitting a Sync3 related post requires filling out the “Issue” form, but I haven’t tried yet. If this is the wrong way to post my question, I apologize.)
As per the title - I’ve a 2016 F150 XLT non-nav currently at 3.0.23219 (original APIM). The only issue I have is Android incoming call defect due to the known ringtone setting issue.
Has anyone created an itemized list of bug fixes and/or new features when updating from 3.0 to 3.4? I want to know if there is any significant advantage to this update, particularly since I am an Android user and thus have no need for CarPlay.
I’ve perused Cyanlabs website and the ford hub/docs/tutorials and there is a wealth of information about how to update, but I can’t seem to find a clear document detailing the advantages of updating, beyond Carplay. If this exists, my apologies for not finding it before posting.
Your input would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.
There is no list and Ford does not release what they updated. There are a couple differences that users found out and are noted in the version window of the update tool and that is it. Those are usually all that are known.
If there is no list, then I guess I send this question out to ya’ll by asking what advantages have been found in using the 3.4 vs. 3.0.23219 version (sans Carplay-related functionality).
3.4.23188 & 3.0.23219 on the back end appear to be a leveling of things like the BT drivers.
And just like a PC a lot depends on the firmware/calibration loaded on the APIM, build of Sync3 and other modules in the car.
Depending on the vehicle/model year there are things that don’t work correctly when you put 3.4.x on a 3.0.x native APIM (eg the clock on non-NAV APIMS which requires 3.4.21265 if you want it to work).
