Hello all. I just got through installing a Sync conversion kit for my 2021 Ford Transit 250 cargo van. I went with the 4 to 8 inch conversion kit from eBay that was originally without an APIM. Worked through all of the bugs and got everything working except for FordPass. Went in with Forscan to check codes and found a code U0198:87-08 in the BCM for lost communication with Telematic control unit and a code in the TCU for U0140:00-08 for lost communication with BCM. I’ve done a Sync master reset and have looked around the APIM As-Built and nothing looks out of place.
Well, if that APIM came out of a Transit Connect than it should be on as they have HS4. To check you would need a program like Forscan and an OBD2 connecter like the OBDLink EX to go into it and check it.
Yea I had a feeling it was. Assuming you got a wire harness from the seller? Makes me wonder if there is no HS4 wiring in that harness. You may want to check for pins 41 & 42 being there.
Just a little bit of an update. I finally got FordPass to work. Checked the APIM harness that was part of the kit and pins 41 and 42 are wired. I drove van yesterday and today and noticed menu for hotspot finally appeared as well as the onboard modem serial number populated. There was still no FordPass menu though. All that menu would do is spin and nothing happened. This afternoon I searched the forum and found one person went in and changed an as-built value in the TCU and made fordpass work. Got the computer out this afternoon and TCU is accessible now to change values. Changed 754-18-01 to 0304 and connection finally showed up. Was able to connect and got FordPass to register again. I’m still having codes in the TCU and BCM about losing connection with each other that won’t clear but everything is working so far.
