If you’re on 3.4.22200 you really need to do a non-format app only upgrade to 3.4.23188 which is the most recent or a non-format downgrade of the app to 3.4.21265 which historically has been extremely stable.

There is no valid map license file that would be available for your vehicle after upgrading to Sync 3.4 from 3.0. You will need to perform a reformat and upgrade the maps and Sync app. This can easily be done thru the Syn3Updater.

Thanks for the replies warlock12118 & F150Chief- My preference would be to just to get to the latest stable version with updated maps included. Donot want to downgrade anymore- new interface is slick and UI runs much smoother! Is there a way to just correct the map license file?

If going to the latest and reformat is the only option- I will try that this weekend-

3.4.21265 is still 3.4.x with the same interface, it’s more stable than 3.4.22200.
It’s just a a slightly earlier build.

The interface change would be 3.0.x

My concern with (3.4.21265 and full NA maps) is the size of the install- It looks like my Sync system is only a 32GB model? are there any best practices on how to size up the Os+Apps+Maps - When I ran the interrogator it did show that there was about 17GB Free?

How is the total installation size determined?

NA APIMs are 32GB, there’s nothing for you to manage since they are designed to hold everything a NA APIM should hold… so as you can see your concern is unfounded…

A full map load with Sync and all files will leave just over 4GB free on a 32GB APIM. This is by design, and it will work just fine. Only the map files that are needed based on GPS location are accessed and loaded on system boot, other than the map base files, -CAF, -CBF. Nav Language is usually defaulted to the system language if not selected otherwise.

My install shows NA.2.22 Maps but I am finding that some of the 2019 home address return a not found? Any insight on how latest map updates work? I think maps are better than previous my previous Sync 3.0 - NA 1 14 but still nowhere close to a 2020 update?

HERE maps do not update everything. My address is not in there and I built 7 years ago. Most the roads are not in around my area either. Don’t expect many changes on new map updates. If you’re paying for maps I would only update every 3-5 years for this reason.

Successfully completed update to Sync 3.4 Build 23188 - Maps NA22 - also “recalibrated” my expectations of maps- Thanks to all for the timely responses and help. Greatly appreciated!

Kudos to the admins, programmers and the leaders on this forum - this was by far the easiest upgrade!

A few takeaways and personal learning:

USB drive quality seems to be all over the place! High quality brand name USB should be a definite requirement
Fractional Map( regional ONLY) update process was very slick!
Ability to roll back/downgrade versions instilled absolute confidence in the process!
