MEM_ERR03 after removing gracenotes, and manually cleaning RWData

My issue is that I can’t get my Sync 3 to update to the current version. So far, I’ve tried manually cleaning up the RWData, removing Gracenotes, and creating a small voice package USB. Even without Gracenotes on the update, it won’t take, and it still just throws the MEM_ERR03. So I updated only Gracenotes, which took but still hasn’t resolved the issue I wanted to fix. The problem I’m ultimately trying to solve is when using Apple CarPlay, the current artist and song aren’t displayed on the gauge cluster. There have been some cases when it did show the current artist playing; I can recall a friend using Android Auto on my car, and it was able to display the artist and song. This could be something unrelated to the software version on the APIM, as the car it’s in is a 2013 Ford Fusion, and I replaced the original 8in sync 2 Non-nav with an OEM sync 3 Non-nav APIM.

Your options are quite limited, it’s an 8GB APIM, it has nothing to do with rwdata partition and such issues.

I got it to update to the current version of sync and Gracenote. It took downgrading and reformating the APIM. After that, the update went through fine. Thanks for your help here!

I tried today, after a master reset and updating everything to the latest software versions successfully, if the currently playing information would show on the gauge cluster when using carplay, and still it doesn’t show. When using a friend’s Android phone, Android Auto has no issue displaying the information. Is this a limitation with sync 3 and carplay, or could something in the As-Built be adjusted?

It would not surprise me since iOS is quite restrictive, but lets wait for others to comment…

It’s a 2013 Fusion, maybe needs settings or won’t do it at all. Ford did not adapt CP till 2016, so likely the cluster doesn’t even support it. Does the cluster show USB music and music from Apple music?
