Mustang GT Sync 3 Battery Drain Continued Issue

After following FAQs and updating asbuilt to “In ForScan set the APIM As-Built 7D0-06-01: x1xx-xx”

There is still a parasitic battery drain. Looking at other APIM Asbuilt data my car shows

Looking at APIM Asbuilt data via FORSCAN:
7D0-01-01: 6A2A 0103 A213
7D0-01-02: 0208 0000 8064
7D0-02-01: 5553 0602 C04A

7D0-02-03: 0000 DC
7D0-03-01: 0000 0101 00DD
7D0-04-01: 0103 0200 00E2
7D0-04-02: 0000 DD
7D0-05-01: 1856 195A 29E7
7D0-05-02: D6B4

7D0-08-01: 0000 0000 00E0
7D0-08-02: 0000 0000 10F1

Per motorcraft services as built data should be:
7D0-01-01 622A 0103 A20B
7D0-01-02 0408 0000 8066
7D0-02-01 5553 0602 C04A
7D0-02-02 0200 8000 005D
7D0-02-03 0000 DC
7D0-03-01 1C4D 4601 008B
7D0-04-01 0103 0200 00E2
7D0-04-02 0000 DD

Would updating to the motorcraft services “correct” asbuilt fix the battery drain? Also wondering why motorcraft services asbuilt only going to 7D0-04-02. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?

Update Method: Official Ford

You’re looking at AB for your original Sync 2 APIM. If you put a new APIM in with a different(Newer) calibration than it will not match.

The Ford AB site will not reflect changes you made.

How would I find what the AB should be? Would the AB be the same as a 2016 Mustang with SYNC 3?

2016 Mustang AB is totally different as they moved it to the Sync 3 platform. AB will not match.

Here is a link to the settings for Sync 2 that you can use.
Sync 2 APIM Database - CyanLabs

I installed a retrofit sync 3 in my 2015 GT Premium so I need the correct asbuilt for that. I was able to pull the factory asbuilt for 2017 GT Premium with the same options as my car. I would assume this would be the correct asbuilt for me to use?

It will be pretty close. I don’t remember if the 15 is a CGEA 1.2 or a 1.3 network. That will make a difference in the settings if it is.

Mustang switched to Type B clock setting which is CGEA 1.3 in 2015. A 2017 APIM asbuilt should work fine in a 2015 Sync 3 retrofit, nut you need to make sure that the options line up, or you could get some errors.

Thanks, thats helpful. Ilooking at ForScan it seems like there are some batter/voltage related errors coming from BCM. Below are some of the errors I’m seeing. Is it possible the retrofit Sync 3 unit changed something in the BCM which is causing the battery draw or is it more likely the errors are “symptoms” of the draw not the cause?

Here are the errors I’m seeing from Forscan

APIM LIN Bus “A”

  • Code: B1087
  • General Electric Failure

APIM Steering Wheel Audio Switch Pack

  • Code: B11BA
  • Circuit Voltage out of range

Do a DTC clear first and then see what it shows if you have not already done that.

Pretty much all of those errors are indicating a low voltage condition from the battery and/or charging system. However, the APIM does show a U3000 code which is an incomplete or incompatible configuration. You do have the Illumination GW Strategy set for C1CMA rather than CGEA. This can cause the APIM illumination to stay on.

7D0-06-01 is 81, should be 80. (805D)

You should look for CGEA settings and ensure they are correct, and are not CGEA 1.2 or C1CMA unless that value is combined with CGEA 1.3.
