I’ve recently changed my 2015 Kuga (which I upgraded from Sync 2 to an "aftermarket Sync 3.4 APIM) to a 2018 Ford Kuga Titanium X that comes with a Sync 3.0 NAV APIM. I really miss how nice Sync 3.4 was and looking to upgrade however I’m a but wary of doing so in case some of the features this car comes with go “missing” during the upgrade. Currently the car has Park Assist with all around parking sensors, a factory fitted reversing camera and ambient lighting controlls through the Sync 3.0 system. If I perform an upgrade from the current Sync 3.0.20204 to a Sync 3.4 version are the Asbuilt features likely to stay activated on the APIM or am I probably going to have to go in and reset some settings using FORscan?
I’ve only had the car for 2 weeks so don’t want to “break” it already haha. I believe my car is an MY18.5 so not MY20 so no danger there.
Thanks in advance for any help :).
SYNC Region: EU
Navigation Variant: Nav
Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20
Install Type: OEM
Old SYNC Version: 3.0.20204
New SYNC Version: 3.4.21194
Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
N/A
Those features won’t go, as for “i believe my car is an MY18.5” make sure to use the built in checks of Syn3 Updater to ensure this is the case by reading the xml file in Syn3 Updater.
Thanks for the reply, so all the features of the car should continue to work as they do currently on the updated Sync 3.4 version without needing to change any ASBUILT values in FORscan?
Yeah that would make sense, original unit must have failed on the previous owner. If they put a new head unit in the least they could have done is put SYNC 3.4 on it haha. I don’t suppose anyone has successfully gotten in touch with Ford and gotten an update from 3.0 to 3.4 from them have they?
But thanks for pointing that out about the APIM, I’d have ended up bricking it if I hadn’t checked.
