No hazard spot warning option

Hi,
I just followed the manual update instructions (mac) and have gone from Sync 3.0 to 3.4.23188
My region is ANZ and I have navigation.

The update was very easy and seamless with no update issues but…
I’m not getting speed camera warnings, and after scoping vids on youtube, most peoples issue is that they do not have
the Hazard Spot Warning enabled.

My problem is that I don’t even have that option anywhere in the nav settings to enable.
It’s just not there!
Here in OZ most of our nav units have fixed speed cameras and school zones to alert us on approach so it’s a real pain not having that feature.
Any tips would be appreciated.

SYNC Region: ANZ

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 3.0.23219

New SYNC Version: 3.4.23188

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No Errors

Update Method: CyanLabs Manual Method

Have you master reset?

Yes.
As per the last step in the manual update instructions.

I’ve never seen speed camera or hazard warnings in the factory NAV.
I’ve seen it with Google Maps or Waze, but that is provided by those apps when running not the factory NAV.

Thanks,
Yeah I know it’s in those but prefer the clarity of the factory nav over the CarPlay apps.
Some Sync3 equipped vehicles definitely have the option for hazard spot warning or a feature with a similar title but this one doesn’t.

Not sure if this vehicle ever had it (FM Mustang GT) as I purchased it secondhand and updated the Sync3 System pretty much before seeing what the previous version’s features were.
Cheers, Geoff.

Are you the 1st owner of the car?
I have not heard of that feature either…

Where would you find such option?, I assume you are referring to while on 3.0 right?..

Have to keep the market the car is in when you look at some features
.
In the US hazard warning and live traffic on the factory NAV comes with a subscription to Sirius Travel Link, Ford includes a free 5 year from the date Sirius is activated on the specific ACM ESN, after five years if you want to keep it the cost is $2/mo on top of the regular music subscription.

In the EU live traffic comes over the government TMC-RDS system.

In Spain (I have just returned) but not in France, permanent radar speed controls are indicated on the F12 Maps.

My UK Focus RS warns me about speed cams.

I would imagine that is being delivered through the TMC-RDS.
If it was part of the maps you wouldn’t see anything added since 12/2022 update of the map set used in the F12 maps, just like a new petrol station not showing in the POI.

Thank everyone.
Looks like the feature is just not available to me here in Australia.
I’ll just use Waze for areas I’m unfamiliar with.
Appreciate your feedback.
Cheers, Geoff.

Hi, I amin Australia and have a 2017 ford ranger originally came with sync 3.0 and I updated to latest sync 3.4 I have fixed speed camera and hazard spot warning. There is a setting in APIM asbuilt to enable speed camera and hazard spot warning, I had to enable it in APIM asbuilt as it was not enabled originally.

Do you remember what those settings were by chance?

Thanks so much for that info.
Do you know the procedure in how to enable it?

I think this is the procedure I followed to activate speed cameras and hazard spot warnings. It was quite a while ago so I am not 100% sure so give it a try and see if it works
APIM 7D0-02-02 xxx8-xxxx-xxxx then do a hard reset. In GPS settings area you will need to enable the notifications.

Some vehicles have xxx0-xxxx-xxxx so change to xxx8-xxxx-xxxx - Less trailer backup assist
Some have xxx2-xxxx-xxxx so change to xxxA-xxxx-xxxx - With trailer backup assist

Okay thanks.
I’m assuming this is all done with forscan which I have no experience with so I’ll see my mechanic friend and if he’s confident, get him to give it a try.

Yes done with Forscan. Forscan is easy to use just make sure you backup settings first in case you need to revert to original settings. You can also download original settings from the ford motocraft site if you’re stuck!

Thanks mate. Really appreciate your help time and info. Have a great weekend.

Hello @Geoffro62 My according I have some tips to resolve the missing Hazard Spot Warning option.

Perform a master reset through the SYNC settings menu. This can often fix post update issues.
You can ensure your region is correctly set to ANZ in the SYNC settings. Also you can reinstall the update using the CyanLabs Manual Method.
If problem prissiest so you can reach out support team

I hope this will help you :slightly_smiling_face:
