No lock/unlock buttons on 2015 Mondeo TCU Retrofit

Hi there!
I’m having a bit of trouble retrofitting a K-series TCU to my 2015 Ford Mondeo (European Fusion). I replaced the GWM and installed the TCU using Forscan. In FordPass, I get the car image, fuel percentage, location, TPMS, odometer, and oil life all working fine — but I’m not seeing the remaining distance to empty (in kilometers in my case) or the lock/unlock buttons.

I originally installed the TCU a few months ago when FordPass Pro was still available, and everything worked fine in that app. However, in the regular FordPass app, those two features never worked.

I’ve seen a couple of similar cases on this forum, but only one user managed to fix it, and that was by doing a PMI using IDS (though in that case it was an upgrade from a 3G to a 4G TCU, unlike my situation). I do have offline IDS v121 and a VCM2 clone available if needed.

Here’s my TCU info:

Part Number: KT1T-14G087-EN
Calibration Level: KT1T-14G087-ET
Strategy: JX7T-14G139-CT

Does anyone know what might be causing this issue or have any suggestions on what to try next? If everything was working fine in FordPass Pro, I think something has changed (or been blocked) by Ford on the server side — especially considering that no Mondeo came with a TCU from the factory until the 2019 model year.
Thanks in advance!

K series firmware is HS4
2015 Fusion/Mondeo are HS3 cars
You need to downgrade the firmware to the J series firmware in order for this to have a hope of working.
Check out F150Chiefs doc for this

Firmware is fine…the issue is likely on the Ford server side. If it was not supported by Ford in 2015 it won’t be supported now. FP Pro is much more comprehensive for the business use. A 2015 Mondeo came with an H series TCU, quite a bit different than a K series. If you want all the reporting features I suggest you install the HU5T TCU.

Hi there,

@warlock12118 already on J firmware :winking_face_with_tongue:

@F150Chief I’ll try to find an HJ5T TCU to see if it works. I installed this K-series unit because a friend of mine (who, by the way, has the same car as I do and installed an L-series TCU with all features working fine) gave it to me after finding it in a scrapped car.

Finally, would you recommend configuring it with IDS or Forscan? I assume it depends on the firmware the H-series came with, and whether it needs a firmware update.

Thank you both very much! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You’re going to have to use ForScan for this.
IDS will want to drop the AB for your VIN into it.

Hi, I’ve got some news.

I found an HJ5T on a European scrapyard website and bought it, thinking it would be from a European car. But when I installed it, not only does it fail to detect parameters in Forscan’s oscilloscope mode (for example, the signal cell is always at 255 or it doesn’t correctly detect the key position—it always shows as Key Off even when the car is running), but also, when I checked its stock AB configuration, I saw that in 754-01-01: xx** it comes with a ‘42’ by default, meaning it’s from North America and it won’t work for me, since my region is Europe (Spain, specifically).

I’ve been searching again for European HJ5T modules, but I can’t find any… Is it possible that H-Series was never installed in European cars? Right now the only idea I have is to open both modules and move the eSIM chip from the K to the H, but that’s a lot of work and I don’t even have the right tools…
