Ok. Thank you for your confirmation. Based on the TCU-L database here on CyanLabs, I think I’m looking at TCU Block 8 to get the missing CVF menu to appear in sync. I’ll do some messing around with that this week. If anyone out there has gone through this process before, advice is welcome.

CVF is a subset of CCS, so make sure that is enabled.
Thank you. Looking at the TCU database, I see the definition of 7C and 7D. Is it correct to assume that 7E indicates ‘disabled’?
I currently have CCS disabled in the APIM because it breaks the wireless projection needed for CarPlay. Hoping that enabling the CVF menu correctly through the TCU programming will resolve that issue and everything will be functional.
Finally got some time to jump into the TCU programming. Comparing against various other Ford Models on the AsBuilt site, it doesn’t look like there are any vehicles out there which use TCU-L models with SYNC4. Do you know if that’s true?
If so, looks like a guessing game with the TCU codes until I find the settings in those blocks that enable CVF without breaking Wireless App Projection.
I have a 2019 Ford Edge. What hardware do I need to have sync 4 retrofit working? I have the 12 inch screen that will replace the 8 inch screen.
Doing a 8" to 12" swap in my 2021 F150. I’ve got all the parts including an unused APIM from a 2021 F150. Will I need to invest into a Mongoose cable as well as FRDS in order to program the new APIM or will just bringing over my as-built over from the 8" APIM with FORscan work?
Hi, sorry to jump on this thread. I have a sync 4 focus I am looking to install a reverse camera. I have found little information regarding how to. Have read the Mk4 threads however from reading these threads it looks like the pins have moved and only people who currently fit it for business seem to have these navics boxe( could be misspelled. Anyway thanks for reading seems like there’s a lot of understanding of Ford systems here so thought it was worth a try.
Hi everyone, sorry for the language unfortunately I’m using google translate, I’ve read the entire discussion and congratulations on the advice and changes you’ve made, I have a Ford Focus MK4 year 2019 and I did the replacement from sync3 to sync4, I took all the parts from a Ford Focus MK4.5 year 2023 which was damaged from here APIM, TCU , GWM, IPC digital and HVAC module, I mounted everything on my 2019 Focus with even the ETHERNET cables between GWM-TCU-APIM everything works except the selectable driving mode, pressing the button opens the screen on the sync display but not it allows me to select Eco or Sport mode, with Forscan I can read and modify the configuration of the apim sync4 and I don’t have any DTC errors present, I can see the maps with live traffic so the TCU module I think starts with the APIM module and GWM, I’m going crazy trying to figure out where the problem is, I don’t understand if it’s a problem with some parameter that I have to change on apim or another part, if anyone has any experience with this I’ll be grateful if you can help me, thanks in advance, I’ll also send a video the problem is clearer that way.
Your 2019 PCM doesn’t support drive modes,
This is no different than trying to add the custom steering modes of a Mustang to a Fusion/Mondeo.
Just dropping in Sync4 (or even an upgrade from 3.0 to Sync 3.4) in a vehicle doesn’t mean you’ll instantly get access to all of the new function of say a 2023 that came with Sync4 even if it is the same model. The firmware in the other modules matters quite a bit when you go to do this.
I understand, but if I fit the old original HVAC module, the driving mode works, but it doesn’t work from the sync but it works from the central tunnel button like the original one, but if I leave the old HVAC module fitted, the air conditioning from the touch doesn’t work well. sync screen
Right you’ve got incompatible hardware/firmware.
Have you tried dropping your AsBuilt into the “new” FCIM?
As I said you can’t just drop parts in and expect them to work, just go look at the online threads where people dropped Sync3 into vehicles with MFT, the potential problems and issues are the same.
As an example, if you go to 2gfusions.net and look for RobToledo’s build thread you’ll see everything he did trying to get everything in his pre-2019/2020 Fusion working with all of the functions in Sync 3.
Sorry friend “FCIM” what module do you mean? do you mean APIM sync? However I tried to load my configuration of my APIM sync3 onto the APIM sync4 that I mounted but it is not compatible they are different, I tried to configure it as much as possible based on my options of my car setup and almost everything works except the mode driving and two other little things that don’t matter to me.
So I have no solution? in your opinion is it the PCM that is not compatible with the new sync4 APIM? could it also be ABS? or the BCM?
Thanks for your replies friend.
FCIM is the front controls interface module or the HVAC controls.
You can’t just drop your Sync3 AsBuilt into a Sync4 unit, they are entirely different animals.
The incompatibility could be just the PCM or it could be other modules.
The sync front control module is not programmable it only works with a LIN network and all the controls work, however the original HVAC module if I fit it the driving mode works but the internal fan of the dashboard controlled by the touch does not work sync screen because it should be controlled by the physical buttons of the HVAC, if instead I install the new HVAC taken again with apim sync4 from the donor car, the fan from the touch screen works and the driving mode does not work, with forscan I can read the configuration of the new HVAC but I can’t modify it, instead in the old original HVAC I can read and write the configuration, in the old HVAC on the configuration I read that the driving mode is Enable and in the new HVAC the driving mode is Disable and I can’t change it edit, it reads but doesn’t write the configuration and I don’t know why.
You have a compatibility issue and its entirely possible that ForScan doesn’t know how to modify the config on the new FCIM.
As far as I know, this “FCIM” control panel does not have a configuration, as per the electrical diagram it only works with a LIN and not with a CAN network, it has simple control buttons, I connected the electrical system as in the electrical diagram and all the buttons work, as you said in the previous comments it seems like an incompatibility between APIM and PCM or some other module
I am still digging through this thread from top to bottom, but it is taking a while. I have been reading most of the day and still only halfway through. So much good information. I am trying to retrofit SYNC4 into my 2018 F150 Lariat.
I have an as-built for my current SYNC 3.4 (upgraded using the CyanLabs tool - thanks for that) setup. I am trying to correlate all of my data to the SYNC4 data locations. I found the database tools here and will dig into that further when I am back to a computer with multiple screens.
That said, I wanted to ask if there was a simple cheat sheet. Something along the lines of this SYNC3 setting was moved to this location in SYNC4. Is there anything like that or do I need to continue going through line by line?
