Was following this thread for a bit. Recently got a 2016 Police Interceptor Sedan with no sync, i was able to fit the sync 3 from my 2015 F150(factory SYNC2, upgraded to sync 3) into the interceptor, surprisingly it worked with just a custom harness, way simpler than the 4 to 8 ā€œ harness

Found a SYNC 4 apim and screen for under $140 shipped so bought it considering why not for the F150. Removed the 53/54 HS-CAN but my FCIM and door modules stopped working, removed the MS-CAN and mostly everything works, except climate controls.

Does anybody have any insights on making the climate control work on the screen, at present it shows temperature bars in Celsius for some reason but does nothing else. I tried profile from a ā€˜21 F-150, tried most of the combinations from the SYNC4 database but no luck

Alright so in my search for the infamous ethernet lin from the APIM to the gateway, i came across you guys on this specific forum, did not know anyone else was doing sync 4 swap and honestly wished i knew prior to me diy myself but figured everything you guys went through on my own which isn’t bad but makes me even more happy knowing similar minds think a like and wanted to post my progress! I also stopped reading at post 250 and read the last and read someone say so far not possible, so don’t know if anyone figured it out but figured id throw in my 2 cents

Did you get things working? I installed a 12in screen and sync 4 apim in my 2021 explorer st and nearly everything working. Had the AA audio issue and it’s mostly solved and backup cameras working too.. let me know if you need any as built info and I can grab my setup.

I read the whole thread and wanted to ask what else I need to do.

To swap my 2020 Mustang from SYNC 3 to SYNC 4, I already bought:

  • APIM P/N: MUST-14G670-DE

  • SYNC 4 screen

  • APIM connector/pigtail (I don’t want to modify the factory plug)

From what I understand, I need to remove pins 53 & 54 to make it work, and also pins 41 & 42.

I don’t really care about OTA updates. All I want is for Apple CarPlay to work properly.

Honestly, I didn’t believe this conversion would work until I saw infotainment guys actually doing it.

Any input would help. If there’s anything I’m missing, please let me know.

If you know the VIN of the donor vehicle it will help with the necessary asbuilt adjustments for your vehicle. If not, that’s ok, just maybe a little bit of adjusting the asbuilt for the right values. For the most part it will just work. Keep in mind that several things may not work, like FordPass, and services thru that. Also there will be no updates, either for maps or Sync, as you noted. But for using with CarPlay it should work fine.

Hello, does somebody solve the tcu problem, so the tcu will work on sync4 retrofit. Wanna all forpass function to work, like start engie, unlock etc…
