upgrading a 2018 sync 3 with nav from 3.0.xxxxxx to 3.4xxxxx, details into software ok. since it went wrong i have tried using the reset buttons, and removed battery connections for 15mins. Still completely black, no audio, chimes, no blue or red displays. USB ports aren’t powered either. Checked the fuses in footwell. Connected via forscan and not errors, checked and re-wrote the AB data just incase but no change

Did you run the Interrogator Utility determine if the APIM was MY20+ or not?
Or look with FORScan to identify the APIM. On the connection section look at the tabs across the top and look for the configuration tab. Scroll down and find the APIM and get the part number.

Based on the heading of your post you removed the USB stick too early and possibly caused your issue.
In the Syn3 Updater instructions it says you should ignore the first message about removing the flash drive and allow the system to reboot and complete the upload.

You could try the upload again leaving the stick in until you get the final completed message after 30 to 60 minutes with Nav and then do a master reset with the engine still running.
