Possible corrupt APIM?

I having intermittent startup (showing splash and then sometimes not) . I just recently did a SYNC 1 to SYNC 3 conversion. When able to boot I tried to master reset but it doesn’t erase anything. Then I tried the SYNC updater and getting a USB changed or remove, please reinsert. I changed USB and same result. Is this a faulty APIM and is there anyway to repair?

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Non Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: Retrofit

Old SYNC Version: 3.0

New SYNC Version: 3.0

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
USB changed or removed. Please reinsert

Update Method: Official Ford

Sounds like either a bad APIM or a counterfeit one if this is running 3.0 and not 3.4.

3.4 this might be a symptom of being on one of the buggy builds that filled the RWData partition.

I don’t believe it to be a counterfeit. I bought it off marketplace that included the ACM,screen, and fascia from a focus. It has 3.0 currently…so looks like I took a hit then and need to replace it…smh. Also, could I use a 2020+ APIM in a sync 1 to sync 3 conversion?

You could but don’t. The MY20+ will brick if you reformat them.

See if you can run the Interrogator Utility and post the xml here…

Unfortunately I get this message when I plug any USB in…let alone having to turn on/off car multiple times to get my sync to start up…looks like I’m dead in the water….

“ Installation paused

The USB storage device has been changed or removed. Installation will resume when the device is re-inserted.”

I would comtact the seller and see if they can send you a replacement or a refund.
