Question Regarding the Installation of Sync 3.4 from CyanLabs

This is more of a general question than an issue. I have a 2016 Navigator w/ Sync 3 that I just recently updated to 3.0.23219. My question is if I install the 3.4 version CyanLabs has provided, do I still have access to the troubleshooting/“secret” menu (where you have to press and hold forward search/next track and eject, then it plays the diagnotic speaker tones, etc)? I would like to keep the OEM look of the UI (sorry, the Lincoln version is much nicer than the Ford UI) and was wondering if that was possible.

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 3.0.23219

New SYNC Version: 3.0.23219

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No

Update Method: Official Ford

The diagnostic menu isn’t part of Sync3, that’s a function of the ACM, the screen just tells you what its testing.

To make a Ford look like a Lincoln you would need to use ForScan to make changes to the back end config, its not a 3.4 or even a 3.0 menu item.

Ok, so I guess the question is will I still have the OEM look after install or no? Has anyone else installed into their Lincoln? I only see Ford’s for installs on YT

Since 3.4 has a new UI and your car was never meant to have 3.4, the technical and specific answer is it won’t be OEM. Unless you upgrade to 3.3.19xxx…

Upgrading should not change your theme if it’s stock, and if it does you can switch it back via Forscan.

Ok, got it. Thank you. I’ll look into downloading Forscan. Is it compatible with Mac?

Go over their site.

I do not think so, there’s an iOS and Android version, both of them are Lite.

Noted, thank you. Looks like WIN based only for the full version. Guess I need to borrow a laptop >:-/

Can you live with a non Lincoln UI for a few days? If so, do not worry about that for now, it may not be necessary at all…

As long as your unit is not MY20, I would not wait to get Forscan, a Windows PC and a valid adapter…

Lincoln vs Ford on Sync3 is basically just a built in theme like you would find in Windows, its already there.

You have to make a ForScan change first to change the brand from Ford to Lincoln and then change the theme to Lincoln.

APIM is not MY20+. I’m currently looking into cheap laptops on craigslist. I know that the OBDLink EX is the adapter of choice, so will be grabbing one of those. Appreciate the input.

If you have a 10" screen you will need to use FORScan to correct the screen size setting after you update to Sync 3.4, as the update will reset the screen to 8" in the Navigators.

The Lincoln themes are much better on the eyes in my opinion and can easily be set using FORScan. The APIM database explains the needed settings.
