Red screen when downloading 50 mins in gracenotes

Hi, I’m going to sound really stupid here and I wish I hadn’t even tried to update the system as I’ve been driving around with the mustang/ford logos on my system for the past 3 days. It’s stressing me out having no radio. I’m a complete novice at all USB related things and I’ve been studying your threads over the past few days and some of you are absolutely amazing reading these logs. Anyway I decided to update the system on my 2017 Kuga and chose the latest update on the website with maps. I do have Nav in the car. It was all going well until 50 mins in while on the gracenotes and the screen went red. I tried it again. Same thing happened. So I’m assuming I have to take the gracenotes out of the package and do it separately. (I don’t even care about the gracenotes to be honest, I just want my screen back) My issue is, I have lost the usb between the car and house but thankfully I had already ordered a brand new one 64gb exfat and I am waiting to be delivered today.
Do I just delete the files with gracenotes in once it has downloaded to the stick? Please don’t be mad with how stupid I am with this stuff. I don’t want to have to pay hundreds of £’s for someone to plug a stick in, but also, if I have to, I will. It’s driving me crazy.
(Syn updater number -2- is a guess on the info list until I get access to the pc)
I have photos of the error on the red screen.

.

Let’s start with the easy things.

  1. Have you tried using the other USB port
  2. Is anything plugged into the other USB port
  3. Is the USB stick formatted as ExFAT
  4. Is this an old USB drive?
  5. Have you done a full reformat of the USB (not just a quick)
  6. What brand is the USB drive (cheap ones overheat on the continuous read)
  7. Have you tried clearing the updater download cache on your PC and doing a fresh download?

Thank you for your reply. Always best to start with the easy stuff. Especially with me.

  1. No, but I will once the new scandisk usb arrives
  2. No made sure and disconnected all bluetooth too
  3. Yes
  4. Yes it has been used before for other data but was purchased 3 months ago.
  5. I’m about to look up what this is. :face_with_diagonal_mouth::joy: told you, complete novice
  6. This could be an issue I can’t remember and it had no writing on.
  7. I’m going to try again with a new upload on a new usb and hopefully this is the problem.

So the error could just be because of the usbdrive. Hopefully, it will work on the new one and It’s not anything that will leave me rendered without a sync system.
The new one hasn’t arrived so I’m going out now to buy one instead of waiting.
I’ll come back once I have followed your advice above.
Thank you, I really appreciate it!

That issue is caused by a problem with the file. Please delete all related files from your PC and download them again.
