Used Syn 3 to install F11 maps to 3.4.22200 EU

Something has changed, can actually find my new street now!

But Map version still says F9 on the Unit?

Yes, that.

Have you read the tutorial?, or are you just “going for it”?.
It’s almost as if you interrupted the multiple reboots required to autoinstall maps.

Unless I’m mistaken, all files correctly installed are listed on the 1st section of the autoinstall.lst file.

So again, it’s almost as if you removed the pendrive after the 1st section processed correctly, ignoring the procedure thus interrupting the process.

Probably so.

I got to the first bit about the key cyle bit.
It the said I was about to install maps which may take an hour ( the instructions you link dont mention that screen).
I pressed “yes”
The updating system software appeared for around 20 mins then dissapeared
90 minutes later I finished my journey and turned off vehicle
So I guees I need to leavce it on longer?
Thats one big trip then?

Autoinstalling EU maps is a lengthy process, about 2-3 hours I believe; and there’s a reboot after each section is processed.
Your APIM is 4U5T-14G371-GFA, which is not MY20.
Any particular reason not to reformat it? It would be cleaner and faster, about 45-60 minutes.

If I only want Maps , Sync 3 defaults to “autoinstall”?

If I select something from the Syn version drop down ( 3.4.22200 for example ) and the F11 map, which prompts “downgrade”

How do I select a “reformat” , noting the flow chart suggests I must use downgrade?

Depending on some variables, yes.

Downgrade is required to install Sync3 3.3.xxxx, a version in which the reformat took is not blacklisted. Once you are on 3.3, reformat will kick in.

You don’t in this case. In this context, downgrade leads to a reformat.
There’s a quite hefty and detailed documentation page you should read, specially the different install modes section.

Maps can be autoinstalled as long as not ESN locked, locked maps require reformat.

The screenshot only shows the USB’s structure, if you have the log for that USB creation it would be best, since it will tell what it will do.

But yes, granted it’s a valid USB, you are one “shorter” drive away from upgrading everything.
Just keep in mind the unit won’t be operative during the reformat phase.

That looks good, if you review the contents you will find that the autoinstall section will just install 3.3 and the 2nd one will install the reformat tool. Once the 2nd reboot, reformat will kick in and install all the files listed in the reformat.lst file.

There’s one thing that caught my eye: it took 2:10 hours to create the USB drive.
I do not remember how much it takes on average, but 2:10 hours seems to be a bit much. I’m sure it’s a 2.0 device, and from what the log says it’s a quality branded device.

I,ve always found these really small ( 20mm long) drives always slow to load, not just here, but on official Ford site and wehn transferring movies etc to them too

My 2019 Focus has an extebnded 5 year warranty so always wary about these “unofficial” fixes, but took the plunge as no way can I update mapss via Ford without £££££

I did exactly as you said. Bough a new 3.1 USB. Downloaded teh relevant upgrade in 50 mins.

Followed the “downgrade” instructions and it has all worked perfectly.

Glad to hear everything went as expected, enjoy your upgraded system.

Just remember to perform a master reset if you haven’t done so already. And since you part ways from Ford’s upgrade path, it’s recommended to disable the vehicle’s WiFi and/or auto updates.

Based on the model you have it’s unlikely for it to cause issues, but still…
