Small Map & Voice files - or any other ways to save memory

Hi all -I keep running into endless reboots with memory problems on my Sync 3.
Wondered if is there a solution (apart from removing maps all together) to reduce the size of the maps (and possibly the voice) to save some memory in my Sync 3 unit?
I live in Australia, which means my map package is ANZ, SA and TW.
I absolutely will never use SA and TW, and will never use NZ for that matter.

Just curious if this has been solved or not?

SYNC Region: ANZ

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: Retrofit

Old SYNC Version: 2.0

New SYNC Version: 3.4.23188

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No error messages, just endless reboots (around 8 or 9 in a row) then black screen and not able to use Sync until a full ignition cycle, then i’m back in reboot mode again, and black screen and on and on

Update Method: CyanLabs Syn3 Updater

Syn3 Updater Version: 2.12.5.0

Syn3 Updater Documentation Read: yes

Syn3 Updater Log File

no log files with this error.

Have you tried soft resets and/or master reset.

How did you get to that conclusion?

Yeah fair question, I’m
Guessing the action of the device displaying something on the screen, the screen then going black , and rebooting to sync interface , which then goes through the same setup tasks as if I’d selected master reset from the menu, is what I’m classing as a reboot.

Hopefully that make sense sandman.

I’ve coupled (but not proved) that the problem is exacerbated by the fact the use of car play triggers an almost instant reboot where as just leaving the sync interface running can often stay working for 5-10 minutes before a reboot.

Activating car play will no doubt eat more RAM.

I also noticed that once I installed a gps antenna ( coz I didn’t have one at the time if retro fit) the reboots got significantly worse, more frequent.
GPS antenna off , seems to reduce the frequency.

But result is the same , it’s just the amount I’d time it takes to get to 8 cycles the dead until ignition cycle.

That sounds more like a bad APIM.

But that’s not because of storage usage.
Have you master reset?.
