I have bought an chinese APIM clone - Version 1 - 64GB - 3U5T-14G371-DEE with V3.4 Build 22110 an F11 Maps EU. Car: Mondeo 2015
Since the first day , I got sporadically black screen. When I drive a while, and then restart the car, I got black screen.
When I do a soft restart of the APIM Module (power and FF button) - I got black screen.
After approximately 4-5 hours, the system works again.
I updated the system to the last Version - V3.4 B-23188 und F12 Maps - without success - same behavior!
Does somebody know this behavior ?
Mayby a reformat of the APIM should help ?
thank you in advanced - lotus78
Putting the illegality aside…
Its a problem when they shove things into the APIM to get them to fit.
Where did you get the AB for your 2015 Mondeo from?
@warlock12118
thx for your response! at stock my 2015 mondeo had a sync2. The seller programmed the sync3 apim with my FIN - i had no asbuild saved or stored. Is there a chance to solve the issue? thx
It’s not so much as the APIM was “fake or knockoff” it’s that it wasn’t an EU NAV APIM which means it doesn’t have the board hardware (eg 64gb of storage) to hold the maps.
You can back up the existing AB that your have using ForScan and drop that into an EU NAV APIM. A true EU NAV unit will have a label saying EU NAV 64GB and you don’t have to have one from say a Mondeo, you can use one from a Kuga, Puma,etc.
Its all about the AS Built config that gets dropped in.
Thx - but the APIM have 64GB as you can see in the cyanlab logfile in the first post. Whatever , I have my hands on a european 2022 APIM - the last HW version with only one USB. Will this version work in my 2015 mondeo ? - it is the same HW as in your ebaylink. thx for helping an thx for the link
Since you’ve done a Sync3 conversion already, dropping in the AsBuilt from the current unit into the new one with ForScan should allow it to work. You would need to backup the existing and restore it to the “new” one.
You can never just drop in a newer APIM after doing a conversion even if you had one pulled from a Mondeo due to changes in the vehicle logic.
