Although everything seems to be functioning fine, my boot splash is stretched regardless of which boot I choose. I’m new to upgrading this, so please bear with me. If you need any logs/details, please let me know.
For some context, here’s how I got to where I’m at: We bought a used Cmax, and it appears that before we acquired it, the screen had been changed out with one from a Fusion. (I’m assuming that because that’s what it reports as on bluetooth. Also, it had screens that didn’t apply). One thing I wanted was a backup camera that the car didn’t come with. I added one and got it working. I had played with different boot screens, and they worked fine. But I still wasn’t happy with the unneeded screens. So first I went to the ford website and found the actual settings for my VIN and loaded those with FORSCAN. Many things improved. I lost my excess screens and got some new ones that functioned. And, of course, lost my camera. I went through the the easy settings in FORSCAN until I got my camera back. I then used syn3updater to update from 3.0 to 3.4. Somewhere along the way, something went wrong with the splash screen. I’ve again played with various splash screens, but they all have the same problem. As best I can tell, they are squished horizontally and stretched vertically. They are all centered horizontally as appropriate. When I have it on ford default, I see the top edge of the ford logo at the bottom of the screen. When I have it on navigator, I see the top edges of the letters at the bottom of the screen. I add these details to show the screen isn’t rotated, but merely stretched into a portrait size. However, once the OS loads, everything looks perfect.

Ok, let’s start with the problems here.
You can’t drop the factory AB for an MFT vehicle into a Sync3 vehicle, they’re not the same.
Go to one of the used car sites, find a 2016 CMax (which came with Sync3) whose options pretty much match yours and download the AB for that vehicle’s VIN and use that as a base for your config. https://www.motorcraftservice.com/Asbuilt/
I guess I left out a little detail. My car did originally come with Sync3. It’s just the unit must have gotten swapped out at some point, because it had many options that made no sense for this car.
I did get my my AB file from that site with my actual VIN. As you said, I had to use it as a base, because I added the backup camera, but the AB file didn’t have it.
To get the camera working, I ended up going oldschool. Although I had gotten the right control module from a junk yard, I couldn’t find the appropriate CAN wires anywhere near the back. So I simply used the method of borrowing power from the backup lights to turn on the camera. I fed the analog wires to the appropriate pins in the sync3 connector, enabled the settings in forscan, and viola, working camera. No bending guide lines, but I’m not concerned about that.
