Stuck on Updating System Software

Hello, I’m trying to update my Sync3 from version 3.4 build 21265 to 3.4 build 22251 and the update is stuck on Updating System Software. I have changed the USB drive, master reset, but not luck. Here are my log files when I create the usb drive.

Hello.

Take a look at this guide → Tutorial: Sync 3.4 NON-NAV APIM: Failure to Update to Newer Version Sync 3.4

Since my issue is not related to out of space, I used few different usb drives, so the suggestion is to downgrade first and them try to upgrade?

Even though the tutorial says 1.5, 1.7 is not enough.
Remove gracenotes, install the small voice package and see how much free space there’s on the APIM.

Can I setup another usb, remove gracenotes and proceed with the same procedures and versions mentioned above, without downgrading?

Sure, but I didn’t mention downgrade, in any place.
All I said was: remove Gracenotes, install the smaller voice package and check how much free space the unit has. If it’s enough, you may or may not skip downgrading.

Removing GN and running the Sync app update alone should work. After that is done then run the voice file update alone.

Now I’m getting Installation failed. Error code: MEM_ERR03.
I follow the first instruction; remove Gracenotes and install the small voice package, and when I try to update is when I’m getting the error code. Below is the latest interrogator log

Partition Type = Free / Total
/fs/Nuance/ = 3.2M / 465M
/fs/Nuance/grace = 5.8M / 775M
/fs/rwdata/ = 917M / 1.2G
/fs/rwdata/quip/ = 35M / 35M
/fs/rwdata/quip/ = 90M / 90M
/fs/mp/ = 132M / 1.4G
/fs/images/ = 1.7G / 3.0G

Installed Packages
5U5T-14G391-CP
4U5T-14G423-CC

Is there a way to remove the voice package so I can try the update again?

You need to follow the tutorial…

Not enough storage space.

GN is still installed.

NA is the small voice file, that’s good.

Use this only for the Sync app:

[SYNCGen3.0_ALL_PRODUCT]
Item1 = NU5T-14G381-AB_1665525837000.TAR.GZ
Open1 = SyncMyRide\NU5T-14G381-AB_1665525837000.TAR.GZ
Options = AutoInstall

Use this only for the voice app:

[SYNCGen3.0_ALL_PRODUCT]
Item1 = 5U5T-14G391-CS_1660783942000.TAR.GZ
Open1 = SyncMyRide\5U5T-14G391-CS_1660783942000.TAR.GZ
Options = AutoInstall

Then run the Interrogator again to see what storage you have.

How these results look?
If everything looks good, should I continue with the update?

Looks good. You can install GN if you like. Keep in mind that when you upgrade to the next update that you need to first uninstall GN, then install the new Sync app files. Then install GN again. That’s just the way it is with the Non-Nav units with Sync 3.4 due to the size of the files.

I really appreciate your help and the patience with me.
I’m getting ready to update to build 22251. If you look at the pic should I proceed with the installation, or disable GN first, and next proceed with the installation, and after the update repeat the process and install GN.

You already have the voice file installed, so good there. Just do the Sync app first, then check the storage. It should be nearly the same. Once that is done, install GN if desired.

You can’t install all 3 files at once as they are larger than the available storage.

What car model and year?

2013 Ford F-150 Lariat.
I successfully was able to update to 22251

Thank You so much for all your help. You guys are the best. Happy camper.

The main reason I was updating is that there is no voice on Google map when using my android (android auto) but I’m going to check other posts and If I don’t find anything I’ll create a new one. I believe iPhone works fine.

Make sure that the permissions on the phone are set to allow use with Sync. If iPhone works then it is not a Sync system issue.

@SaNdMaN might have some insight on this…
