Syn3 Updater Crash Log - Ford Ranger Australia

HI All,

JUst new to this but I am hoping to upgrade my Ford Ranger from factory SYNC_3 SW2.0 (build 16074) to the most current version. I am trying to create a interrogator log file but I continue to get a system crash when I upload the file.

Any advice?

Can you post your full XML file? remove your vin, open it in notepad or something

Sorry the forum doesn’t allow me to upload files or links as a new user - any other way to get it to you?

Thanks for the assistance, this looks to be a big update so I just want to make sure I have everything right.

You should be able to post now…

Sync_MVA8005Z_MPBUMFF50GX101135.xml (10.7 KB)

You have a 2016 Ranger with Sync 3. The storage and a few other items in the xml file are reporting in error. Run the APIM Interrogator again be use file GB5T-14G386-AB_134244.tar.gz. You can download that from the software database on this site.

Read this tutorial on the use…

Awsome, thanks. I did some digging and found that I can get a factory upgrade to SYNC3 v3.0.20204 - should I do this first?

Not really, it will not matter if you intend to go to Sync 3.4. That update is really mostly just bug fixes for the older Sync 3.0 platform, since Ford has now moved on to Sync 4.0 in new vehicles.

Is it worth just doing the doing the upgrade then? Is there any benefit to running the interrogator?

There is no benefit to running the Interrogator at this point. You can just proceed with the upgrade. Let the app decide the action, which will be to reformat and load Sync 3.4. Don’t FORCE the reformat.

You are presently at SYNC_3 SW2.0 (build 16074) or 2.0.16074. If you have a NAV unit with maps, then select NAVIGATION. If you do not have navigation, do not try to add it. You cannot keep existing maps as they are not compatible.

Read the documentation thru first.
