SYNC 1 to SYNC 3 upgrade on 2018 PIU

I looked into this some more and you’re right, but this particular XLT had an upgraded package with leather interior and SYNC 3 so it also came with auto climate control. I’ve been looking all over for the location of the cabin temperature sensor but I can’t find anything… Is the temp sensor integrated into the HVAC module itself?

The temp/humidity sensor in behind the little slits on the right of the IPC trim piece. Down by the Key slot or push start button.

Oh okay I see the slits! How do you find this stuff!? I searched all over the internet last night trying to find that, I even key word searched the entire workshop manual and couldn’t find anything. Do you know the actual name of that part? I have a feeling my PIU doesn’t have one so I will have to buy one to work with the auto HVAC but I can’t find that part number or name anywhere

There is a good chance you don’t have one in there. Many PIU did not have them since the HVAC is very basic in those. You should hear a fan in there if you listen closely with the vehicle not started but turned to on.

Here is one replacement part number with the Z.

GB5Z-19E616-A

You might want to look first. It could be there as could the plug.

Many thanks :folded_hands:t2: What do you make of this? I can hear what kinda sounds like a fan I think, but I’m not sure if it’s just electric buzzing noises from the ignition being on. Maybe you can tell from the photos

Yup, it’s in there.

Hell yeah! I wonder why they would put that in a manual HVAC system. Not complaining though, that’s great news

It because of the humidity sensor. It will turn on the AC if it needs it so the windows don’t fog up.

You really are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks man!

So just a quick update @bill32399 I’m still waiting for the new APIM, it was supposed to be delivered today but I guess it will be Monday now. So far I have replaced all the speakers, put sound deadening in all the doors, installed the auto headlights sensor and switch, replaced all the bulbs that weren’t LED, and yesterday I got a 2016 center console installed. I was wondering, have you installed power folding mirrors on your PIU? I REALLY need them to get into my garage but I’m not sure if it’s a “plug and play” type of job. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch. The PIU is coming along and it’s super exciting!

Yes I did power folding mirrors for my 2015. It required the DSM and new mirrors that had the motors. I believe you need the door modules to do it on a 2018. I will have to look at the wire diagrams.

Yes, DDM/PDM.

I believe I have both of those modules… I have power seats (drivers side at least) and power mirrors already in my 2018. Would I just need to install the power folding mirrors and then enable the settings in forscan or is it more involved than that?

You also need a driver’s side window switch that has the mirror fold button. What seats you have in a 16+ are irrelevant.

Don’t confuse Power mirrors with Power folding mirrors.

I gotcha. I mentioned the power mirrors because I read somewhere that if i have power mirrors then I should have the driver door module you were referring to. I’ll try to research it some more and figure it out

That could be true. You will know when you take the door panel off for sure.

@SamsonExplorer

You can look at the modules in FORScan on the vehicle profile…

Oh show him the easy way, LOL.

So much for plug and play. Nothing works right and I don’t know how to fix it because FORScan is telling me it will damage my modules. But right now the APIM and HVAC modules aren’t communicating with anything. Please help

Did you create a completely new vehicle profile (and not load an old saved one) like the FORScan dialog said?
