Sync 2.2 to 3.0 (possibly incomplete install?) freezing issues after update

You can transfer the asbuilt from the old one to the new one with a few edits. We can help with that…should not affect your features.

Do you have any insight on the 14G370 being on one side vs 14G371 on the assy number on the other?

This one for example.

That is correct but a non- nav unit.
PBK is non-nav
PCK is nav

Would a PCH also be nav? I’ve seen a couple of those.

Yes. That’s probably the 370 number, but good. It should be equivalent to the 371-CDF.

It is, I can’t find many 371s. Actually the PCH I saw was the same one you linked from Canada (trying to avoid import fees).

There’s so many different 3 letter endings, how do you know which is nav vs non-nav?

I tried opening some up Asbuilt data but I don’t know how to decipher the data codes to see if it came with Nav or not

Middle letter, b is non, c is nav for the 370 numbers.
Middle letter, a is non, d is nav for the 371 numbers.
Mostly true with some specific exceptions.

Use the database for the 371 numbers.
Nav has 32GB ram.

Okay I appreciate the help..

I think I may bite the bullet on this one then. Anything to know to not mess up before I unplug and install the new one, assuming that one should work.

I have a BCH sitting on my desk here that is a 370 K series NAV.

So I’m guessing I’ll need Forscan to program the new APIM.

Do I backup my asbuilt values with Forscan before uninstalling my original APIM?

Yes, just the free version. The USB adapter from OBDLink is the recommended one, but you can use a Bluetooth one for just adjusting the asbuilt. You cannot use the BT adapter for firmware programming, FYI.

There are several instruction tutorials:

The tutorial by Livnitup is a good one. He is one of the pioneers in the development of this.

The F150Forum has several threads dedicated to this:

Alright, so I figured out Forscan and backed up all my Asbuilt modules individually.

I’m not sure what other steps to take prior to installing the APIM I bought off eBay (it hasn’t arrived yet).

Do I now just simply write all of my old Asbuilt values when I install the eBay APIM? (I’m assuming I only need to write over the APIM Asbuilt values and not everything?)

Or will I need to do some kind of firmware update referencing that “Updating APIM Firmware (Calibration Files)” link you sent?

Generally, yes. Make a backup of the new APIM before doing so. You may not need it but just in case.

No firmware updates.

Thanks, I’ll do that and report back after I get it and try it out.

Assuming I don’t have any glaring hiccups, am I good to just upgrade straight to 3.4? Despite whatever version this new APIM may be?

Good move…

Think I’m good to go. New APIM in and it was already snapper before I updated to 3.4. Had some small issues before I loaded my old asbuilt APIM modules, but so far so good now!

Thanks for helping with my questions and finding a faster model APIM.
