Sync 2 to Sync3 No climate controls screen

Hi All,

I have a vehicle called a Australian vehicle called a Ford Falcon FGX Ute. It comes from the Factory with Sync 2. They never came out later with Sync 3. So have to try and program it.
Orginally when I installed it, I had no steering controls, climate control screen, although nothing was displayed for climate control.
I manage to get the SWC etc. But now there is not even a button to choose the climate control screen. I have no ac on Sync 3 and only the manual controls work. Although you dont know what temp your setting things to.

That’s going to be the type of climate repeater more than likely.

OK cheers.

I think I may have changed that already

Cheers, I have looked at that. Doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me… I have changed what I think is for the AC etc. But doesnt seem to work. It worked fine on the Sync 2 APIM.

Not terribly unexpected, you trying to make Sync3 work on an unsupported vehicle.
You might want to try naviupgrade to get a custom config to support your vehicle.

I have sent several emails to Naviupgrade with no reply. I dont think it can be that hard, there are a few vehicles here in Australia that have done the same. However I cant get a copy of the Asbuilt files. I do have the Sync 2 Asbuilt. Just need to convert the Sync 2 Asbuilt to the Sync 3. I am just not that experienced in it all. I am sure its just a few changes.

Have you tried purchasing it through his website as opposed to sending email/PMs?
It is a business for him, not a free support service.

It states on his website to email him, if there is not an option in the drop down boxes etc.

I know its a business, not free support.

I will just try and work it out myself some how… I am on a disabilty pension. So cant afford to pay someone who may not be able to do it as well.

Im sure he could do it, however this is a unique situation.

If I did get a Asbuilt from him. I would wont the lot. Including vehicle specifications, tyre size etc etc. into the APIM As built file

Tyre size and vehicle specs are nothing to do with the APIM, you can get default AsBuilt from here :- https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt/

Cheers, my car doesnt have a Sync 3 equilavent with asbuilt file.

There is programming for tyres, weight etc etc. I dont see Ford having this information if it wasnt required for something.

My GPS doesnt flow along the road (if that makes sense) it jitters a little. So I was wondering if it had to do with tyre size or something silly

You’ve only changed the sync system so the rest of the car will be OEM as will the asbuilt.

Almost…
This is a bit like doing any other Sync2/MFT conversion.
The factory AsBuilt will not be quite right and has to have some custom work on the config to make it work.

The GPS issue has nothing to do with the tire size.
It’s the GPS receiver purchased, where you mounted it and what value is in the config.

0=Roof Mount (UK Default)
1=Instrument Panel (IP) Mount (Non Heated Windscreen)
2=Instrument Panel (IP) Mount (Heated Windscreen)
3=Windshield Mount (Non-Heated Windscreen)
4=Windshield Mount (Heated Windscreen)

Thanks. I have programmed this when I installed it. Maybe I will try another GPS

Maybe try using the Bezel Diagnostics menu to see if you’re getting good satellite signals. Many of those retrofit antennas are crap.

Thanks, how do I get into this menu? I couldnt find it?

Your looking for something like this…

This is the OEM 2017 Explorer antenna I added to my 15 Explorer.

What you chose in the APIM config for the GPS antenna matters.
2 or 4 will cause an over gain condition if you don’t have the electrically heated windshield.

Thanks. I have it set to 1=Instrument Panel (IP) Mount (Non Heated Windscreen). This is what I orginally progammed. So will swap GPS antenna maybe and see what happens
