SYNC 3.0 to 3.4 with maps from NA to EU

Hi,

I have a FORD EXPLORER 2017 with maps and SYNC 3. Current version is 3.0 Build 20204. I’d like to upgrade to Sync 3.4 ad change maps to EU. I know that i can’t store all regions.

As far as i understood i can use updater and buy maps on site.

I have some doubts if it should be 2 step process or i can update whole system at once? I have read all the tutorials but i still don’t know should i change my car’s region before using updater? I don’t want to brick my system.

Marcin

The update itself it’s a single step, but first you must get the packages to be installed.

Once you do, you create a single USB and perform the upgrade.

But, there’s a catch: as described, you will also need to reprogram the APIM, so you will need forscan and a OBD2 scanner.

Installation and reprogramming need to happen for the NAV to work properly.

Should i reprogram APIM before upgrade
or after?

doesnt matter

Ok thanks
Is there a tutorial which functions to change from US to EU with polish language in the dash and btw is there a polish voice commands available? From what i have watched it is not possible. Can you confirm?

And one more topic.

"USB hub not supported, please remove” error when upgradeing from Sync 3.0. should i upgrade to lets say 3.3 to aviod that error?

I do have android auto and carplay even now.

Polish is available in the EU voice file.
Android Auto will work, CarPlay will not with the old hub under Sync 3.2+. You can leave the hub if you do not use CP, but you will always get the error on startup.

You should be able to upgrade to 3.4 without an issue except for the hub, really.

Reflash ok. Master reset performed. No USB hub error i hope it will not occure after APIM mod. Will observe

Update: navi works but no voice commands. Sometimes i gry this prompt. Is it USB hub?

No that is the navigation still loading. Could you post your Syn3 Updater log file from the usb, please.

HI, sorry i was out on a business trip. You mean this one?

log.txt (9,2 KB)

You have 5 map files and 1 Map Voice file installed, which with the rest of the Apps, System Voice, GN, etc. puts the APIM very close to full, with little space to process the normal operations, especially NAV. You will probably continue to get the message until you remove one of the map files. Remember you need to keep the first two, 1U5T-14G421-BAH and 1U5T-14G421-BBH.

You need to remove one of these from the installation and run the installation again for the maps:
1U5T-14G421-BEH - France, Andorra, Monaco, Switzerland
1U5T-14G421-BFH - Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, The Netherlands (Holland), Poland, Slovakia
1U5T-14G421-BGH - Albania, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Malta, Slovenia, San Marino, Turkey, Vatican, Italy

Hmm, i understand that if i simply remove file 1U5T-14G421-BEH from the usb and stick it again it will reflash without this map and i should get rid of this. I do not need to use uploader and create uploader from the begining.

you need to remove it from the LST file also

Yes of course. I’ll let you know if that helps😀

I did another reflash today. I had to downgrade first. Aaand nope, still getting this notification. Not always, i cant find any pattern. Maybe APIM modification will help. I have to order another OBD cable, one i got is faulty. My navi works but without voice info, from time to time im getting voice directions in some strange language ( some kind nordic one i guess?)…
