Sync 3.4.22251 - Feedback & Issues - Archived Replies

May I ask how to solve this problem?

Hello - I have Sync 3.4.22251. Voice commands don’t work for music. Message “Sync is downloading information from your device”…or message is “don’t understand command”. I am using applicable commands. Even more irritating I also have to confirm all basic Sync settings every time I start my truck.

F150 2019 (April) NA with maps
Not sure of previous Sync version - I have auto-update active.

I’ve tried soft re-set, hard re-set and factory re-set, no change. I tried the Cyan Labs Autoinstall USB option, no change. I would like to try the Cyan Labs reformat option but I am unsure how to determine if I have MY20 or not. Per Cyan Lab instructions I ran the Interrogator Log. Info as follows:

I hope this is the information that you need. Is the reformat option recommended?

Thanks

Hello there.

This is a problem that’s been recently reported/noticed, there’s no space left for that partition.
Go and read these threads → Version 22251 Issues Arising? & Some APIM Settings Going Back to Default.
It’s yet to be determined if this issue affects 22251 or other builds as well.
But basically, ideally, you need to reformat the unit if possible.
Review the quoted thread, if you have any feedback or questions about it, post them there.

Thanks for the reply. I had searched the threads but I had missed the one that you linked.

It does seem that the reformat is the next logical step and I am assuming that I don’t have MY20 as my truck was built in April 2019. I don’t want to “brick” the APIM, is there a way to definitely determine if MY20 is present?

Yep, to unmount the unit and check the manufacture date on the APIM and screen’s part number.

Syn3updater will also help you determine if it’s MY20 or not with a high level of accuracy, but it’s not 100% certain. Sync3updater will say that based on your APIM model KU5T-14G371-CDF, it’s not MY20, so you should be ok.

Thanks.

I ran the reformat function and within 30 seconds of the software update starting I received “Installation Failed Error Code PKG_ERR04”. SYNC appears to be functioning no different now than before - no worse off due to the error but not any better. Suggestions?

This is not the place for these kind of questions.

Do not force things if you do not what you are doing.
That will never work.

If you have issues after correcting that, read the documentation or post on the referenced threads, or create a new one.

I have already told you that:

Hello all,
I used the updater to update to this latest build and everything is working great except for one bug. I saw it mentioned in the beginning of the the thread with Carplay, but same thing is happening with Android Auto. Pressing the phone icon does not launch the Android Auto phone “system” like in older versions, it just brings you to the Sync 3 phone screen. Pressing the maps icon launches google maps like always and all other Android Auto functions appear to work. When a phone call is incoming, it won’t answer until I select the Android Auto icon and then I can answer it.

The last few days I’ve been having issues with version 22251. Radio starts up with English language and starts up on AM like it’s done a little reset of some sort. My language is Danish. Have done a master reset and removed the battery poles for 5 minutes without success. It also freezes at times and makes a blue screen and restarts. Others experiencing this and have a solution

Have had it successfully installed since release and currently have map F11 installed

@Jan_Christensen , check the threads linked in the Community Spotted Issues on the 1st message

Now I’m not very geeky so what’s the solution? Do I have to go to Ford with the car or what can I do myself? has a paying forscan program as well as the real OBD2 if it is to be used for this… I am really tired of it and dare not try to update it again as it might freeze

Just read, the solution is on the threads I’ve quoted.

Yes, and there are hundreds of posts and I can’t make sense of what they all write. Something with reformat, but I can’t use that because mine is a MY20. I would not have asked for help if I had understood everything they wrote. Maybe you should make a guide to what you can do instead of forcing someone to read through a hundred posts

I’m sorry, are you paying CyanLabs for support?.
Or all what you are getting is for free and under your own responsibility?.

If you want some kind of “silver platter” service I would advice paying a fee to a local “guru” or Ford Service representative, then you would be entitled to make requirements or demands. It would not be free, right?, but someone else will fix it for you.

If you do not care about spending some time researching in order to fix your issue, then you can be sure I can’t care less about you fixing your issue. The fact you didn’t read the very first message, where a “tutorial” is found for troubleshooting this issue, tells me you do not really want to spend time on this… and of course neither do I…

Take care and good luck.

Would you like to commission this guide? yeah i didn’t think so… CyanLabs is free, if you can’t be bothered to read thats not our problem.

That said, if anyone wants to constructively suggest what CyanLabs should work on please post here

I apologize many times. I didn’t see there was a 3rd link in what he shared. found only the two links where the problem was discussed. As I said I’m not that good at software but more hardware man… once again sorry, got it to work by doing 3 soft resets by holding down the 2 buttons on sync and then doing a master reset and then downgrading to 22200…
