Sync 3 AS built process

Hi

I bought a 2nd user APIM to upgrade my Sync2 to sync3 and the supplier just put it to the latest at that point which was 2 years ago. I tried last night to use the updater and this did not take.
As the original module was a sync 2 the asbuilt data is not complete for a sync3. Is there a way to get an as built file for my car? I am not sure oif a way to manually build it as ther are too many options to pick from as per the sync3 list of options.

Sorry, what exactly are you actually trying to do?

If your asbuilt doesn’t match your car spec, find a car with the same spec as yours but with SYNC 3 as standard, copy that asbuilt.

that is the problem. as the “ASBUILT” info relies on different things - i beleive - size of tyres , type of engine …

trying to find an exact match is a challange.

OK but thats not really that relevant, especially for SYNC, is there specific features or functionality that you are missing that you are trying to enable, if not it doesn’t really matter massively.

the heater is reversed on the screen when adjusting it.

so ther are a few things that ar enot as expected.

Cannot update the version of firmware on it. Says downloading but then stops - using a usb stick.

Firmware is not updatable via USB stick, Sync software is, in which case post your log file.

It’s a good thing it didn’t work…

JR3T-14G371-FFB is a Ford Service Replacement APIM that uses the new eMMC and is considered MY20+.

DO NOT REFORMAT this unit.

Keep in mind that the Sync 2 and 3 asbuilts are not directly comparable. Use the AsBuilt Databases - CyanLabs to compare your options and choose the closest match.

Based on the info above you have given, a 2017 with Sync 3 would be what you need. Specifically, you will need 7D0-05-01 and beyond to fill out the asbuilt. Using the APIM Sync 2 and 3 asbuilt databases on the site here, you can decipher the coding necessary for your unit.
