Sync 3 Navigation Not Showing Updated Maps After Installation

Hello everyone,
I created a USB stick with the Syn3Updater to only install the current F13 maps on my Sync (version 3.4.23188 with F12 maps)
The installation started and after just over 30 minutes I received the message that the installation would continue with part two after a restart. Before I could turn the ignition off and on again, the system restarted and the installation started again. After it was complete and required another restart, I removed the USB stick.
The system continues to show the map version F12 in the information.
Have I made a mistake, or why am I still seeing the F12 version even though I created the USB stick only with the F13 map updates?

Hello.

Yes, you interrupted the process. Autoinstalling Maps requires multiple reboots, and the file you shown before tells me there should had been 3 restarts.
So, you are lacking the last part of the update.

Yes, since you have a mixture of navigation packages…

Don’t worry, it’s solvable.
Before moving forward, create, run and share the output of the interrogator log, just to see which packages are missing so that we can complete those.

The message before the first restart was that the installation of part two would continue after the restart. The same message came up after the second restart - that’s why I pulled out the stick after or during the third restart. Since the message “Software updated” came up afterwards, I thought the installation was complete.

I created a USB stick to create the interrogator log and will plug it in tomorrow and submit the information.

Would it be an option to run the installation again with the original stick if necessary? But I’ll plug in the log stick tomorrow first.

To be honest, I’m not 100% sure if that would start from scratch or continue… It is not desirable for it to start over (due to it being a lengthy process)… But, technically speaking yes, it’s an option…

On the other hand, your profile says your unit is not MY20, so it should be ok to be be reformatted… Any particular reason as to why you are autoinstalling maps instead of reformatting the unit??.

We will see what the interrogator says…

First of all, thank you very much for your quick support.

I will create a new stick with the files mentioned, as I have already formatted the sticks, as I assumed there was a download error or something similar.
What are your experiences, should the sync restart while the files are being updated, and if so, how often? I’m just asking before I pull the stick out too soon.

You are welcome!.

The USB you will create will have an autoinstall.lst file which contains a single section, so once it finishes you can remove the USB. If you check your original autoinstall.lst posted in the opening message, you will see that it contained 3 sections…

As you can see, after a section is processed the unit restarts and continues with the next section… That’s why you should had waited for the 3rd section to be processed (final restart) before removing the USB…

So, create the USB and check the autoinstall.lst file to see it has the single section and that’s it, run in on the unit… once it finishes, you can remove the USB…

Then you should see the correct information on the about screen.

Correct, now that you mention it. It’s exactly the packages from the third section that are missing. I’m just going to say that if my sync hadn’t always shown before the restart that it would continue with the second part of the installation (but with the second and then the third), it would have worked the first time too. :+1:

Installation has now been completed successfully. This time, at the end, there was a message saying that the stick could be removed and the system would restart. The F13 cards are now also displayed in the sync info.
I created a complete stick again and adjusted the auto-installation as you specified. A newly created stick with the files mentioned created 3 parts again, for whatever reason.

Um, I thought it would create a single section within the autoinstall.lst file… maybe it’s programmed that way to make updates more reliable… Thank you for letting me know that…

As a final review, re-run the interrogator log and check that the once missing packages are listed as installed, and that’s it.

Ah, that’s right. I can check again tomorrow to see if all the files are installed correctly. Which I actually assume is the case.

Hi, I created another interrogator log today and now all the files are there.
With the next update I at least know that I have to look in the autoinstall beforehand to see how many restarts I have to expect. :smile:
