Vehicle/Hardware:
Model: 2016 Ford Escape Titanium (Canadian Spec)
USB Hub: Already swapped to Apple-compliant hub (HC3Z-19A387-F). Blue LED ring is ON.
Cable: Genuine Apple Lightning.
The Issue:
I am trying to enable Apple CarPlay. I successfully moved from Version 1.0 to 3.0, but CarPlay still would not trigger. I am now trying to move from 3.0 to 3.3 (or 3.4) to fix the handshake issue, but I’m stuck in a loop.
The Loop:
I plug in the USB with the 3.3 update.
The screen says “Updating System Software.”
After a while, it pops the message: “Installation Successful. You may now remove your USB drive. Updates will take effect the next time you restart your vehicle.”
I restart the car (and have tried Master Resetting), but the version info is still stuck on 3.0 Build 23219
Key Frustration:
The system thinks it updated, but the build number and version never change. Because I’m stuck on 3.0 Build 23219, the CarPlay preferences menu never appears, and plugging in my iPhone does nothing.
What I’ve already done:
Verified the USB hub is powered and seated correctly.
Performed multiple Master Resets.
Confirmed Siri is ON and “Allowed when locked” on my iPhone.
My Question:
How the hell do I get Apply CarPlay on my 2016 Ford Escape??? I’ve tried everything and I seem to have no luck.
