SYNC 3 update after official Ford 3.0.23219 update

Hello, I downloaded and installed an update from the Ford website. Since then, my car has SYNC 3.0.23219 and the Ford website indicates that I am up to date.

But there are two problems:

  • On the Ford website, the map update is only 43 KB! (whereas a 32 GB USB stick is required)
  • I can see here that there is a version 3.4.XXX

Why doesn’t the Ford website offer me the 3.4 update, and why is the map update so ridiculously small?
Is it safe to use your Sync3Updater with my version?

  1. Depending on country the map update is a paid item, so unless you purchased it all that you’re see is the PDF doc
  2. 3.0.23219 is the HIGHEST version that Ford supports on your car
  3. Going to 3.4.x is something you do at your own risk as once you reformat the APIM to go to 3.4.x you cannot revert to 3.0.x

OK, thank you for your reply. What are the advantages of updating from 3.0 to version 3.4?
If I do not upgrade to version 3.4, is there a way to download only the updated maps?

You’re in the EU, depending on area maps are free through Ford.
3.4.x for a 3.0 vehicle is largely just a prettier interface, for quite a few of the 3.4.x features you need a L series APIM and the other required modules/firmware in the car.
