SYNC 4 Retrofit in Ford Fiesta ST MK8

Here is a video showing my Fiesta ST MK8 2019 with a Retrofitted SYNC 4 APIM (Not Sync 3.4) and a Digital Dash / IPC

Most functions work, AA Wireless, BT, DAB, FM, AM, Settings, B&O, Reverse Camera, Parking Sensors etc.

APIM is Non Nav as unable to source a EU APIM and can’t easily convert the region like we can with SYNC 3, there for no GPS Antenna connection and therefore GPS and Compass don’t work.
TCU connectivity is broken, this is a WIP but unlikely to be fixed
DAB Radio “Stations” button doesn’t display any stations, skipping back/forward works fine though
WiFi is not working as previously paired to another device and no known reset method is known by the public.

Error in my BCM and RCM for unable to communicate with APIM
Error in my APIM for Incompatible Configuration and unsupported screen
Error in my IPC for missing bus used for Boost Gauge, OIL etc (due to digital dash)

All in all, i think the Wireless AA and imo better sound quality are enough to justify the small amount i paid for this APIM.

HI, How did you manage to make UCDSYS see APIM in vehicle? I’ve tried with mine and nothing but works on bench .

you just select a car with a SYNC 4 APIM and then select the SYNC 4 APIM, you don’t need to “make UCDS see your APIM”

I have Genuine UCDSYS cable and Software latest update. I disconnect HS CAN and tried ticking use MM cAN too but failed to read. Strange as I had a Mach e new module. Failed every time. Plugged it into bench TDK unit and it reads and writes no problem.I plugged it into transit connect facelift but should still have read. Did you remove HS can ? Or does it now read through it or Gateway module routes to HS3?

Would you happen to know what line controls the car connectivity settings in the APIM with forscan?

I have a sync 4 retrofit in my Maverick and everything works except wireless AA/CarPlay. If I go into the connectivity settings the wireless app projection won’t switch from off to on. I was looking at line 7D0-02-02 xxxx xx*x xx–
But it doesn’t see to make a difference

You need to have your APIM WIFI working on Sync 4 for the wireless CP/AA to enable. Check that it is enabled and working. This may require turning on automatic updates.

The connectivity settings for Sync 4 are 7D0-02-02: xxxx-xx*x-xx–, but this does not affect the APIM WIFI, it is for the FordPass application.

Also, if you did not add the 2021+ TCU, you will need to set 7D0-02-02: xxxx-xxx*-xx-- to not get GPS from the TCU. This does not affect the WIFI, but will affect your maps application using CP/AA, as those apps use the vehicle GPS for NAV.

Ok thanks for the info and all the help I really appreciate it. I got 99% of this working. I have one last question. What feeds the satelite radio now playing data to the instrument cluster, the apim or acm? FM and AM will show on the cluster but satellite radio just said audio off. I went through the APIM and ACM database and dont see something that stands out on what controls that.

Ok awesome. I wasnt sure if this was something on the IPC that needed to be enabled or if it was part of the APIM AB.

Also, if you have HD Radio (HDR), look at the line above that to enable the metadata for it in the IPC.
