Synce 3 bricked after trying to install the update

I tried to update the sync 3 stereo in my 2017 Transit Connect Limited as it said there was an update available, downloaded the software from ford onto a usb and did the update, half way through the screen went blank and never came back on again, no sound from radio or nothing, not even showing up on bluetooth through my phone, the reverse camera only works just after you have started the van and will never show again until the van is turned off and back on again.

everytime i start the van i get the ford logo show up and then nothing.

From what i can gather the APIM has stopped working, the part number for mine is HV1T-14G370-KFA, is there anyway this can be re flashed with the sync 3 software or can i buy a replacement module? and does anybody know if any other similar modules will work or anybody that could fix this for me

A thing you can try is removing the fuse overnight, or if you can, disconnect the battery. Then see if anything changes.

A consideration would be to use Cyanlabs updater program and update the unit to the latest Sync3. If there is a software glitch, hopefully the reformat process would take care of it. Just make sure you read all the info before starting.

tried this and it does nothing, after about 20 seconds you see the USB lights turn off

You can’t reformat and stay on Sync 3 ver 2.2. You will need to reformat the unit to Sync 3.4.x

What version is the Ford update?
