TCU Firmware Files Request — Ford Fusion 2020 LB5T-14G087-SE (4G Modem)

Hello CyanLabs community,

I’m currently working on recovering a soft-bricked TCU (Telematic Control Unit) in my 2020 Ford Fusion SE EcoBoost.

Details:
• TCU Part Number: LB5T-14G087-SE
• Calibration Level: LB5T-14G087-SE
• Issue: TCU is detected in FORScan but modem serial (ESN) is missing, FordPass Connect not working.
• Need: Looking for the VBF firmware files (strategy/calibration) for this TCU to manually reflash.

I’ve tried TCU module resets and As-Built edits. FORScan does not offer the “Firmware Update” option, so I need the VBF files to attempt a manual flash.

If anyone has these files or can point me where to get them, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Did you make the appropriate asbuilt adjustments to the modules?
Sync Connect APIM & TCU Programming and Activating.pdf (520.8 KB)

You will need a paid version of FORScan for module firmware programming.

I have the payed version and everything,

There’s a switch somewhere withing the programming interface that forces suspension of other devices on the bus, i’m not sure if that applies here.

What files are you trying to load? The SBL is either wrong or missing.. Can you see the asbuilt and what firmware files are currently loaded?

Most of the time you don’t need to silence the busses, but in certain cases yes, especially for the APIM and BCM. This won’t load the SBL, so there is a different issue.

Im trying to upload the pictures

I updated the APIM and it worked but the TCU isn’t working at all, its giving me hard time to know what’s preventing it from updating or functioning

Unplug the power connector from the TCU for a few minutes then reconnect and try again.

I did that, i removed everything and then plugged it in nothing happened

Can you access the asbuilt?
Is this the original TCU for the vehicle?

Yes its the original it was functioning properly couple months ago, but suddenly disconnected

That TCU might have issues. These usually work right.

Can you access the asbuilt?

I think its not letting me access anything regarding TCU

Looks dead.

I can order a new one and then program it on the cars vin right?

Yes, it’s quite simple.
