Thanks for the reply.
Another thing, when I select “find mobile app” on the dash, its says it’s searching my phone but finds nothing. Im sureit’s me at this point but seems like it shouldn’t be so convoluted as well ![]()

Bad usb hub or power not connected to the hub. Also make sure the phone is in low power charging mode, you cannot fast charge with Sync. That might be automatic and not a setting though.
That same hub just let me do the interrogation woth the USB, says I uploaded it to Cyans database but I keep getting lost in the adds… its tough
Still no luck, forscan did not get it…
This was the solution, after doing another update to Sync 3 ver 2.2.17011 everything started to work.
So in summary:
bought the car that previous owner installed 3.0.20204 but no Android Auto or Carplay
Thought it was the USB hub, tried various ones, learned about part numbers vs engineering numbers, apparently they’re different, but that wasn’t the problem
Struggled with the Syn3 process as the videos online didn’t really show the process - keep the USB stick plugged in and drive around as usual (which was hard for me since this car isn’t my daily), and eventually the software updated message will pop up and it will automatically restart
Was able to downgrade to Sync 2 then eventually back up to Sync 3.0, and at this point I thought I was done and when I saw still no AA/Carplay I gave up for a few weeks.
Checked the thread again and saw F150Chief’s post about upgrading to Sync 3 ver 2.2.17011 and thought I’d give it one more shot before giving up again. Loaded everything onto a thumb drive, plugged it in, drove up and down some windy roads for an hour and it finally updated.
Then everything worked, ST splash screen started working, back up camera was finally enabled, and of course Android Auto started to work.
The only disappointment was that the update still didn’t fix the problem I was having programming the keyless remote fob I bought off Amazon, for that I just gave up and ended up hiring a service that programmed their own provided fob.
But yeah, everything works now, I appreciate the help, thank you
Sync has nothing to do with this. Totally different module.
