UK only maps

I’m currently on 3.4.23188 with full EU maps. I’ll only ever use UK maps, and I’m guessing there will never be any more Sync 3.4 software updates.
Can I select “Update Maps Only” create a cut-down map as per the instructions, and install the UK and associated maps and voice? I’m guessing that might leave older versions of unwanted maps in place? Does that cause any issues?
Or do I have to use the downgrade method with the cut-down maps for the first-time UK only maps update.
I very rarely drive more than 30 minutes and, if I do, ideally I need navigation to work as I recently moved to an unfamiliar area. So my aim is to keep the update time as short as I can, whilst retaining navigation functionality during the update.

You are probably correct about no further updates after 3.4.23188 unless there are bug fixes due to sync4 being released.
What is your current map version?

In any case I do not see a problem with updating maps only with Cyanlabs and I don’t know why that would leave older versions of maps in place.

Just ensure you do a master reset after the upload in the car.

With a autoinstall, it will leave left over maps packages of the excluded countries.

Thank you all for your help.
It seems to have worked OK. Car reports map version F13. Took about 40 min.
There were 2 restarts during the update and from the contents of the autoinstall.lst that’s what I expected.
After it had apparently finished, and after the next key cycle, an error message indicated PKG_ERR03 and Update Failed. That may be because I had removed the USB stick after switching off, and possibly before the xml file was written?
I created an xml file manually afterwards and attached here after removing VIN.
