I have Sync 3.4 20196 and maps F9, but I want update maps to F9 (09.2020).
I create a pen-drive in sync3 updater, but i don’t need do reformat of my sync.
Could you tell me how to should look file with update.
I will be grateful for any help.

Reformat is the best way to update maps
But I made reformat previous time when I update sync from 3.0 to 3.4. When I only need update maps reformat is necessary? If is, I will prepare pen-drive. But I need that information to be clearly sure.

it’s not necessary it’s recommended, prevents license issues, prevents failed installs, prevents not having enough space, prevents slower installs.

If you run reformat on a MY20 (2020) the APIM might brick. There is a warning on the Syn3 app.

As he came from 3.0 there was no way he had my20 so i never asked that question

OK I have some doubts because I have sync 3.4 20134, and I prepare update on pen-drive I choose version 3.4 20196 and now I have reformat and downgrade to 3.0. That is correct, first should be downgrade and after that reformat and installation?

Item 1 and 2 of the first section is remove gracenotes, downgrade to 3.3.19052, then it will reboot and run the reformat tool to upgrade to 20196 and install new maps.

while updating maps with downgrade i got the pkg_err3 error and the update stopped. The Sync screen was all red. I re-downloaded the corrupt file but the error remained. How to proceed? If I remove the usb drive, the Sync3 does not turn off and is waiting for the usb drive. Thank you

Hi, now it’s ok … the problem was the brand new usb pendrive that didn’t work … I updated all sync3 software (apps, gracenote, voices, maps) to the latest EU version, but now I don’t see the gracenote version number in the info screen. I haven’t done a factory reset.

yes, I’ll do … also because after the installation I received the error SIGN_ERR02.
That error means the hash value for a package didn’t match what it was expecting. Probably a corrupt file. Try downloading/installing again.
Technically it means the signature didn’t match the files but yes the same problem is likely the reason, redownload the file.

Hi, i like to update mein EU Fiesta St with Sync 3.4.19200 with F8 map. But if i follow the giude the syncmanager gives me the warning about MY or production time in 2020. Now i´m not sure about my car, beacuse production was 12/19 so it will be MY20 but production not 2020. How i can check if i can update or not?
