Update Sync 3.0 to Sync 3.4

Hello, first I would like to thank you for welcoming me to a forum. I have a 2018 Focus MK3, no NAV, Sync 3.0, version 20204 (latest official Ford update). I would like to update using the Sync3Updater, but I’m not sure if I should update to 3.4 or choose a rolling update (eg 3.1, 3.2. 3.3. etc.). I have the the update 3.4. ready, since I have no experience with this app yet, any advice or help would be appreciated.

Hello.

No rolling update is needed, just select the target version and that’s it.

Since your unit is no nav, you might no have enough space for installing gracenotes. If the update process fails, recreate the USB without gracenotes and that should work.

Thank you very much for your response, I have a possibly stupid question: how to prepare an update package without Gracenotes? I tried to figure it out myself but I was failed. Is there a detailed guide for this procedure available somewhere?

thank you for your response, I followed your advice and now I have the update USB disk ready without the Gracenotes part. Now I gather the courage for the last step, to connect the USB drive to my car… (it’s similar to the first date in life - a high expectations, but also worries about how it will turn out). I’ll post how it went asap - success or a will call for help…

An update to my last message. So today I successfully updated Sync 3.0 to the latest version 3.4 on my Ford Focus car… The update went smoothly, took about 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, the new update met my expectations, except for the loss of many functions in the Audio section (can’t tune in any DAP stations), also can’t set the correct times (can’t save new settings), also the compass doesn’t work… And I didn’t find any new or better features either. …

Did you perform a sync master reset after the upload in the car as that will often correct the issues you are having.
Please keep us updated as there are other possible solutions… :wink:

Of course, I did a master sync reset right after the update was finished. Then several more times, but it didn’t solve the problems…

Ok, then try 2 or 3 soft resets one after the other and then a final master reset.
Not saying it will solve your issues but it tends to create more APIM space and has worked in the past for others here with similar problems.
