Updating Sync 3.4.23088 to 3.4.23188 failed and Blank Screen

I was updating my Sync3 it said to reboot and then blank screen. I got forscan and downloaded the firmware to get it to come up but no Ford logo. It goes thru and install the firmware fine without a brick message. My APIM shows a JJ5T-14G370-EBA sticker which a quick google search shows non navigation but I did have navigation and confirm it worked as intended. Forscan shows however a HB5T-14G3701-CG version on the board. Anywho after that I was thinking that the screen was the one for the APIM. Turns out that it is for a Sync 4 model. My question is that if I went the Linux Route and tried the flash, should the screen power on after reset to Factory? Should the APIM Flash restore the screen? I already ordered a Sync 3 screen from ebay but it has not shipped so I was going to ask before they ship. Thank you.

From what i can see you didnt update sync as the start and desired version no’s are the same. As for firmware if you restore something to Factory it behaves as factory.

Not sure what you’re trying to do but if a SYNC update fails than going straight to Forscan has nothing to do with it.

Your new and old version are the same also. Why would you not just go to 3.4.188 like your title says?

From what I can piece together you’re using an older APIM with a SYNC 4 FCIM which would be like a 2020+ screen?

I was trying to fix the blank screen issue. Since I had a blank screen I downloaded the firmware by Forscan. Yes the APIM is 2019 and the Screen is 2023 and thus now I have a blank screen. Screen is my20 and APIM is 2019 or maybe 2018. My question; I will rephrase, should a brand new sync 3.4 unit allow a 2020+ screen to work?

Since you didn’t provide the information required by the template, this is just a guesstimation: your black screen is due to a reformat on a MY20 screen installed on a NOT-MY20 APIM.

If so, you can recover the unit by just simply installing a NOT-MY20 screen to complete the process.

You probably have a K series APIM if it is a 2019 model. Thats a good thing.

Like Sandman said and you already ordered, A pre 2020 screen will solve your problem. Your APIM is just fine and one of the preferable ones in my opinion.
