Just wanted to feedback my experience upgrading Sync 3 as it seems different to what is set out in the guide (downgrade section).
I inserted the USB stick, and saw the “Upgrading system software…” notification on the top of the screen as expected. Next, the system rebooted in to the “old style” / downgraded UI with a prompt to leave the USB stick plugged in, which I did. Nothing happened in the subsequent 45 minutes of waiting at that screen though and as my journey had ended, I had to ignition off/lock. As soon as I returned and had unlocked the car, the update process seemed to start proper (showing the three background screens with green progress bar).
Everything seemed to work, and the update went fine except a master reset was required to get GPS working again (I was going to factory reset anyway).
