Hey team. A different module was installed when my car was stolen. A different VIN is showing on the Sync screen. I have no voice commands and nobody can hear my voice on calls. I have done a master reset Advice would be great
SYNC Region: EU
Navigation Variant: Nav
Manufacturer Year: Unknown
Install Type: OEM Replacement
Old SYNC Version: 3.4
New SYNC Version: 3.4
Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
Nil
Hi Bill, apologies I am presuming it was a new Sync module as the VIN on the ’About Sync’ screen is different from the chassis VIN. I’m still unsure what those that stole the car did. I just know the Voice commands don’t work and my voice isn’t coming through on calls. I am also unable to connect to the Ford Pass App…Please let me know your thoughts
If it was stolen than I am sure they did not want you to track it in Fordpass so first thing is to make the TCU stop working.
It’s really hard to tell you where to go here. You have a laundry list of things that need to be corrected and looked at. Loading your AB on it is a good start for the modules effected but at the same time we dont know what modules have been messed with or replaced.
If it were me I would start with loading the factory AB back to the BCM since we know it has the wrong VIN showing in it. Than the APIM and than the TCU. This is assuming they are the OEM modules and the calibrations match up with the AB bytes. So many what if’s here.
The Sync module or APIM does NOT contain the vehicle VIN, it reads it from the BCM. This would not affect the issue you claim with the voice commands, etc. That issue could be the pairing with the phone or Sync settings, in the APIM asbuilt of the replaced module, providing the APIM was replaced, is not correct for your vehicle, or the APIM is different that it does not have NAV?
The issue with the vehicle VIN it not displayed correctly is concerning, as there seems to be that maybe several modules may have been replaced or swapped. Of these, there are about 5 modules in the vehicle that would contain the VIN in the asbuilt coding. The APIM is not one of them, but they are the IPC, FCIM, BCM, TCU, and PATS. You might want to check if there were more repairs done to the vehicle. Also, check the modules above for the correct VIN coding.
Thanks for your help so far. The panel in the boot/luggage compartment was loose which is where I believe the TCU is. I Will investigate that area with regards to Ford Pass issue. I will connect forscan and maybe post on here for some more advice. Cheers everyone
