Voice commands

Is there anyway to restore voice commands without updating to later version? Do not use android auto or the apple one. I just want voice back

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 2016

New SYNC Version: 3.0.23219

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
Voice recognition not ready. Stopped update before competition. After one hour is still was not finished had to turn off car in order to go to work

Update Method: Official Ford

That would tell me you have either a corrupted voice file or a wrong version.
Did you download the update for your VIN directly from Ford?

Perform a master reset.
If that does not work, create and run an interrogator log against the unit, share the resulting XML with us.
Also, share the autoinstall.lst file you are using.

Yes. I used my VIN. And Ford gave the appropriate update.

For 3.0.23219 NA/NAV the voice file would be JR3T-14G391-CE.
You could try a manual install of just that file.

JR3T-14G391-CE - SYNC 3 APIM Software (IVSU) Database - CyanLabs

Should the USB be exFAT or FAT42

exFat

This was the message I got when I tried to install the voice file

Four things you could try/check.
1.Master reset as suggested, if not already done.
2. Ensure your thumb drive is big enough for all files (32gb).
3. Try a new USB download without Gracenotes and instal.
4. Run an interrogator log and display it here as suggested earlier.

Does it look like the update I obtained from Ford was without navigation?
I do have it. I put in the VIN information and said with navigaton

Would it be possible to tell me what is the latest update I could try. According to ford 3.0.23219 is the latest. What if i try to another version

3.0.23219 is the latest version on the Ford site for your vehicle.
Initially you explained that you stopped the installation after one hour due to work…it is possible it would need longer with Nav anyway. Perhaps you could try another complete download when you can leave it longer.

The very latest version of sync3 currently is 3.4.23188 but that would need to be installed through Cyanlabs.

I’m not able to obtain the link again from ford. The my dashboard page says no more updates are avaliable. So it will not provide link anymore

Well you could try updating to the latest 3.4 version and maps through Cyanlabs using your current version at the start of the updater 3.0.20204 or whatever is on your sync screen currently.

2 easy ways to tell if it is a NAV download.

  1. The top of the autoinstall literally says Only for Nav/NA assemblies
  2. The straight NAV update without maps is around is less that 1.6Gb, the non-NAV is 2.0Gb+ due to the extra language support (NA NAV only supports Eng/Fr/Spn).

How true is it if you remove both battery terminal for about 20 minutes along with the master reset that the apim will go back to it’s factory state

Total BS

You can unplug it for 101 years and it will not reset the SYNC software version or the AB.

Master reset just wipes out any user settings, eg BT pairing or NAV favorites.
Pulling the battery cable (only need to pull one) forces a cold boot of the modules and it should be ~30 minutes not 20 since it takes 30 minutes for the BCM to fully discharge.

Should I use rwcleaner or the reformat tool for my problem
