Hi all. I have a 2013 F150 lariat that had a myfordtouch that I upgraded to a sync 3 APIM (with latest software). You all were super helpful in getting my APIM configured and I have ALMOST everything working. The only outstanding issue is with the built in NAV. When I start the truck it pinpoints me correctly, but as I drive it just drifts further and further off course. If I park and start it up again it correctly relocates me, but then drifts off once again while driving. If it do Carplay, Google Maps seems to track me just fine and has the correct compass heading, it just seems to be the built NAV that is having the problem.
From some reading, I thought it might be because I didn’t disconnect the old GPS antenna when I did the retrofit. However, I opened up the top speaker and disconnected the old GPS module but that made no difference.
One thought I had was that maybe the issue is the wheel turning position sensor is not sending the right information? Something maybe related, maybe unrelated-- when the backup camera is on, there is no curved path that follows my wheel when i turn right to left. I can’t remember if the sync2 camera did that or not, so not sure if that is a change. ha!
I have pasted my current asbuilt configuration in below
I used the GPS receiver that came with the kit, not sure if it even had a brand name on it (it was blue). I stuck it on the underside of the dashboard on the passenger side. I accessed the diagnostic menu and it looks like it is seeing plenty of satellites with good signal strength. I have a whole bunch of idea/questions but would appreciate any guidance or suggestions!
Scrolling through, does gpsfix: nogpsfix mean that it isn’t locking on despite the signal being there? Also i see the “jamming active” flag is there
Also I noticed that the compass direction is wrong, I was pointed east but the menu said north.
At the very top for latitude and longitude, should there be numbers there if it actually has a fix?
On a related note, about a week ago I came home from a work trip to a truck with a completely dead battery (combination of extreme cold plus a lot of time fiddling with the APIM with the engine off, dumb mistake!). I have replaced the battery but if there are certain modules/systems that require you to drive a certain time or over a certain speed or a certain distance to reset/calibrate, I almost certainly haven’t met that yet. Could this literally be fixed just by driving enough to reset the systems? In other words, does the system remain “jammed” until it is receiving data from all the wheel position and speed sensors, etc?
