Worried about bricking unit! Ford Mondeo 2017 UK

Hi,

I had updated my Sync 3 system last year from stock to 3.4.21265 and it’s been sweet since then. The only issue would be the audio stutter when playing through Bluetooth. I have seen that the new update might be bricking head units, and I don’t fancy replacing it. I have done all the necessary checks (outside of taking the head unit out, sorry, don’t have the time!) and it all seems fine to update.

Happy to upload screenshots of current version, including everything taken from the Bezel Diagnostics too, just to be sure.

TIA!

Hello.

Where did you read that?.
If you went from 2.0 to 3.4, you already reformated the unit…

So if nothing changed, you can do that again and nothing should break.

Hey,

Oh, alright. So i can just build a new USB with the new version and maps, and it should install without a hitch? Just do the standard master reset afterwards to clear all the crap in the background?

Thanks

That’s correct, if you were able to reformat the unit once, you can do it again as long as it’s the same unit.

And yes, master reset once you are done.

Thanks! This ticket can be closed now :pray:t4:
