I am looking to do an X40 upgrade on my 2015 F-150. Are there any X40 acm’s out there that have a cd player, not that it matters to me but i have the hole in the fcim for it. Also, what wiring kit should I use to add the extra pins between the acm and apim?

Do i have to get a K series APIM or can I just upgrade to the correct firmware? and also what wire terminals do I use? About to pull the trigger on a KL3T-18D832-BH ACM
My k series acm arrived and I added the extra wires to no avail. Am, FM, Bluetooth, door chimes work fine. APIM is not reading the esn from the ACM. I did the asbuilt changes as well. I am not sure what to do from here. I have a H series APIM that I upgraded to late k series firmware.
What Forscan changes did you make to try and get it to work?
Did you upgrade the calibration on the apim as well, i think an H series might be too behind. Im running a J series apim with a x40 acm from a 2020 edge and also added the wires and everything works fine.
I set 7D0-08-01 xxx2-xxxx-xxxx
And 7D0-02-02 xxxx-xx8x-xxxx
I updated calibration to the following:
3.4 APIM NAV & NON-NAV Unit Firmware (Production Release, 2019, Later K Series)
Secondary Boot Loader: GB5T-14G376-AA

Calibration (F124): 1U5T-14G375-DA (NAV) / 1U5T-14G375-CA (NON-NAV)

Setting is fine but unless I missed it, I don’t see where you upgraded to a x40 ACM. Your old 2015 ACM will not work for this.
I had a KL3T-18D832-BH acm from a 2019 f150 in when i was doing this.

I wouldn’t think it’s too old. You wouldn’t want it any older. @RD4154 is running a J series with x40 so it can work. Triple check your wiring job.
Wiring is good. I’m getting a Code: U0184 - Lost Communication With Radio
Status (-0B):
- DTC Present at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC
Module: Accessory Protocol Interface Module
Also just made another discovery, when I unplug the two added wires, I get another DTC. when they’re in, it only throws the one code. Not sure what’s going on
Well I am out of ideas. I have done a few of these and it was pretty straight forward. Another member and I are trying to figure out using the new ACM that have the square plugs now for x40. There are 3 sets of wires for those.

What’s your APIM part number? If I can find one cheap I might get it to try
For the J series? If so ill get it for you in a bit just getting up lol

This is a K series with nav from a fusion in case you can nail a J which theres plenty. The K series seem to be the hot commodity
