2019 Explorer Retrofit EU Fordpass

Hi all, I’m trying to retrofit Fordpass in my 2019 Explorer Sport in Europe with the aid of the guides and threads over multiple forums.
Some deviations from the guides because my DSP Canbus cables are other than pictured and I chose another place for the antenna (will post some shots another time), but the TCU and antenna are installed, TCU shows up in Forscan under HSCAN3, FordConnect comes up in Sync screen, but I don’t go much further than that…
Installed Ford App on my phone and add my Explorer but never get to see the Activate button…

Sync won’t display my onboard modem ESN also.

TCU pre owned from UK Transit MK4 :
KT1T-14G087-EP
built in 2019.10.03
CAL Level: KT1T-14G087-ES
Strategy: JX7T-14G139-CS

Original Asbuilt was
754-01-01 B238 0000 47
754-01-02 005E
754-02-01 1B21 9A
Now is
754-01-01 B138 0000 46 (x1xx being Gas engine, xx38 for EU)
754-01-02 005E
754-02-01 1B21 9A (tried 754-02-01 0B20 and nothing changes)
If I change the 754-02-01 XXXX to 02A0, and go to check TCU PID, somewhere between 1 and 2 minutes Forscan pops up an error about being unable to run data stream and the TCU goes Offline. I have to disconnect the Battery or let the car sleep over night to be able to see it again

Remote start with the key was already active, but TBM in BCM ist not what the guides say, at least not for my Explorer.
If I mess with the line 726-49-01 x*xx xxxx xxxx in BCM I get an error U0137 - Lost Coms with Trailer Brake Control Module.
So, at least for me, TBM is in fact Trailer Brake Module.

Now, when I go to check TCU PID’s there are some differences to the guides out there.

KEYPOS remais KEY OFF, no matter if the engine is running or not
SELFTESTDTC won’t show anywhere (don’t know if it is needed)
AUTHORIZATION is Authorized Mode since the beginning, changed 754-01-01 B13* to 9 and back to 8 but no difference, also 754-01-01 B1** to 00 again with the same result, shows Authorized Mode but no ESN on Sync nor my Phone show activate.
removed and installed the App a couple of times, clear cache, nothing…

No DTC’s, everything works as ususal.

Can someone give some hints of what can be blocking all of it?
Would I need another TCU or downgrade the firmware…?
Would a TCU JR3T-14G229-AK/ AP be good?

I really would like to get this working…
I use an original ELS27 v4.

This will only work if your have an L series TCU or above and it is on HS4. You would need a new GWM to get HS4.

Your not gaining anything by doing this other than 4 new selections and it is debatable if those even work. One is sharing you driving with insurance. There is nothing new in Fordpass.

Hi, thank you for your comment but I must say you lost me on the way… I have a 2019 Explorer and every thread I went through writes about HS3 and J or K series TCU possibly having to downgrade K series firmware. Icl. the Howto PDF going around here.

Now you speak about HS4… thought HS4 was for post 2020…

Might be debatable but what I ask for is help and advice to achieve it as many others did and I would like to.

Thats correct that a 2019 would have a K series with the HS4 calibration. Updating that to the HS4 calibrations would only work if you had the canbus wiring, GWM that supports HS4 and turing it on in the AB for the APIM.

I have done this same project in an Expedition and Edge and there was nothing to gain but yes it did work.

The point here is not to upgrade to HS4 but to make it work in HS3 like many others did, regardless of what I share with my insurance or if I have something to gain.

Dont be a chump, I never said it was not doable. I said I have done in two example but have really done it countless times so learn how to read.

2019 Ford Explorer’s come OEM with a TCU. Your not doing anything here that has not been done already. There is nothing new coverting a US car to EU. Tons of threads about that here.
