2020 Ford Edge error PKG_ERR04

I am new to this but attempting to update NAV on a 2020 Ford Edge. I am trying to run the MY20 detection tool so I don’t wreck anything. The update starts but errors out and never give me a log.

It’s a 2020, I would assume you have a 2020+ APIM in it and I would not try to upgrade the Nav by doing a reformat.

As @bill32399 stated above, do not reformat the APIM.

If you are running the scripting above, that is for updating the Sync app and assoiated files, not the NAV. Unless you get the NAV download from Ford with a license file you cannot update your maps, they are ESN locked.

You can run the Interrogator Utility in the Syn3 Updater to verify if the APIM is MY20+.

Thanks @bill32399. The interrogator is what is throwing the error so I can’t confirm but would assume It is ENS locked.

There’s almost zero reason to run the interrogator log on a MY20 model to confirm it’s a MY20 model, unless you suspect it has been retrofitted with older hardware. Enable MY20 protection.

What update?. If the one that you sent the log for, gladly since you misconfigured the tool it failed.

You should start reading the Basic Usage - CyanLabs page before you break something.

Because you have misconfigured the tool and it creates the interrogator log based on the current build.

APIMs are not ESN locked, maps are, and you do not need to run anything to know which ones are.

Again, read the Basic Usage - CyanLabs documentation before bricking the unit.

Well, it appears it was the USB stick I was using. It was a new Samsung 3.0. Reverting back the trusty (but old) SanDisk

It was not, error said you were trying to run a blacklisted package, nothing to do with the USB you used but with the USB you created.

So the integrator would not complete or write the log on the Samsung drive. It works perfectly on the SanDisk. I have a log file now.

What others here are trying to tell you is that you cannot update the latest maps through Cyanlabs for your 2020 model as the maps are ESN (electronic serial number) locked. The interrogator log won’t help in this case.

Earlier model Fords can use Cyanlabs for map updates but not 2020 + models to my knowledge.

You will have to buy the map files to suit your vehicle from Ford and download them accordingly as indicated earlier by @F150Chief.
