I’ve followed Tim & Katie’s youtube video, I’ve followed NaviUpgrade’s video on how to do this via Mac, and I’ve tried several different USB’s…all end up giving me this error (PKG_ERR04) very quickly in the process. My built-in 4’’ screen’s SYNC version is: SYNC 3.4.23188_PRODUCT. What am i missing? Bottom line, I need to go from 4-inch software to 8-inch software.
SYNC Region: NA
Navigation Variant: Non Nav
Manufacturer Year: MY20
Install Type: OEM
Old SYNC Version: 3.4.23188
New SYNC Version: 3.4.23188
Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
PKG_ERR04
You can’t use the manual method for that, manual mode is for reformat, which you can’t do.
You will have to manually autoinstall the file. You can download the autoinstall.lst file from SYNC 3 APIM Software (IVSU) Database - CyanLabs to take as a reference, you can do one for each file to install or download all files and generate a single autoinstall.lst file with multiple item/open sentences
Thank you SaNdMaN for the reply - although i’m not sure I’m capable of doing it this way. Might be better if I source a used laptop to have - would be handy with being able to use forscan in the future (i’ve got a ford raptor as my daily driver and there’s a couple things i’ve wanted to tweak on that too) Is it possible and easier to get done what i want to get done with using a PC/laptop?
If you were about to do a manual update you can easily do this as well, since it’s basically the same thing. If you only want to install the APPS package, the site provides you with the file and autoinstall.lst file.
Being able to use Syn3updater will surely be easier, yes.
About Forscan, it’s nice to have if you are already performing modifications to the vehicle. You are just replacing the screen, right?.
Yes, for the Transit 250 (2025) i’m just replacing the 4” screen with the 8” screen/headunit from a 2018-2019 Ford Ecosport. So, i just need to figure out how to do that! And i’m afraid i’m too intimidated to do it manually, simply because you talk about it like it’s simple, and to me - it feels like a different language!
That’s up to you, but if you were about to perform a manual update, that’s more complicated than this.
For the most basics of installs for your case, you need to download the APPS package for 8 inches NU5T-14G381-AD, which you did for the manual update I believe…
From the previous link, you can download the autoinstall.lst file required as well.
You place the package inside the SyncMyRide forlder and the autoinstall.lst on the USB’s root and that’s it.
Just remember to disable the auto update in Sync3, you cannot receive official Sync3 updates anymore. To Ford’s eyes, your unit is 4’’ so it will push a 4’’ update.
