I have started a conversion from a 4.2-8" screen the swap has went well everything plugged right in. I got for scan to change vin on FCIM and apim. My problem is that the buttons for the radio on the FCIM seem to be going off the controller for the 4.2 screen. In the apim settings all I have is the option to select between controllers for the 4.2 screen. I have built asbuilt data into the apim and FCIM for the truck they were taken out of with no luck. It’s a 2021 f250xl donor was a 2023 f250

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No errors I can find
First of all, you are replacing the APIM and FCIM on a 21 F-250 XL with those of a 23 F-250? Do you have the VIN’s for each and have you downloaded the factory asbuilts? To confirm, this is for Sync 3?
I have both vins and have input the asbuilt for the 23 in place of the 21 via forscan. This is a 4.2” sync upgrade to the 8” sync 3 I swapped out everything from the 23 to the 21 including apim screen FCIM and acm. All have been updated with asbuilt data from motor craft for the 23 truck the screen came from. For whatever reason the volume and tune dial function properly but the preset buttons do not. For instance the #4 button shuts the display off 1 pauses music 2-3 are shuffle and repeat
This sounds like the difference between the standard 4.2 rotary controller and the HMI 5-way controller. Did you replace the APIM/controller bezel with controller?
The last 2 digits are checksum bits, just let FORScan calculate those when you write the change. It will probably be 0005 0040 0043.
0021 0040 0041 would be the 5 way controller with Pre-X40 SirusXM. If you did not change the ACM, you should return this value to Pre-X40. Probably try 0001 0040 0039.
